TL;DR: In this paper, the authors measured the dynamic mechanical properties of a wide range of ion contents and found that most of the ionomers showed two glass transitions, as well as a well-developed ionic plateau region in the storage modulus between the two glass transition.
Abstract: Sodium sulfonated poly(styrene−ethylene−butylene) random ionomers [P(SEB-co-SSNa)] were obtained by hydrogenation, sulfonation, and neutralization of styrene−butadiene copolymers containing 45 wt % styrene. The dynamic mechanical properties were measured as a function of temperature for ionomers of a wide range of ion contents. Most of the ionomers showed two glass transitions, as well as a well-developed ionic plateau region in the storage modulus between the two glass transitions. The loss tangent peak of the upper Tg appeared below the decomposition temperature of the polymer, which permitted its detailed analysis as a function of ion concentration. The results of this study are explained on the basis of a recent model of morphology of ionomers in the solid state (the EHM model) and compared with those of the styrene−sodium methacrylate copolymers [P(S-co-MANa)] and sodium sulfonated polystyrene [P(S-co-SSNa)]. Considerable similarities exist in the properties of the matrix phase in the P(SEB-co-SSNa) ...

TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that SBR with 50 phr of HAF carbon black has a positive temperature coefficient of resistivity close to 0.07/°C at 27°C and an activation energy of 0.56 eV at 75°C.
Abstract: Styrene–butadiene rubber (SBR) charged with 50 phr of HAF carbon black has been found to show a positive temperature coefficient of resistivity close to 0.07/°C at 27°C. Beyond a point (75°C) of minimum conductivity, however, it behaves as a normal noncrystalline semiconductor with a resistivity which decreases with rise of temperature with an activation energy of 0.56 eV. Blending the composition with poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) shifts the minimum towards lower temperatures. The descending branch of the conductivity versus reciprocal absolute temperature characteristic is probably associated with thermal expansion of tunnelling paths separating the conducting carbon particles.

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of three different types of anti-aging additives (bumetrizole, octabenzone, and tinuvin770) on the physical and rheological properties of styrene butadiene styrene (SBS) modified asphalt were investigated by means of conventional physical properties tests and dynamic shear rheometer (DSR) tests.
Abstract: The effects of three different types of anti-aging additives (bumetrizole, octabenzone, and tinuvin770) on the physical and rheological properties of styrene butadiene styrene (SBS) modified asphalt were investigated by means of conventional physical properties tests and dynamic shear rheometer (DSR) tests. In order to evaluate the aging properties of different anti-aging additive/SBS modified asphalts, the thin film oven test and ultraviolet (UV) radiation test were performed, and different aging parameters were compared. The results show that the penetration, ductility, and softening point are increased, whereas the viscosity is decreased, with the addition of different anti-aging additives. The DSR analysis indicates that anti-aging additives can enhance the elastic behavior and improve the thermal stability of SBS modified asphalt. Improvement in the thermal-oxidative aging properties of SBS modified asphalt can be achieved with the three different anti-aging additives, but the UV aging properties of anti-aging additive/SBS modified asphalts are dependent on the type of anti-aging additive. Of the three different anti-aging additives, tinuvin770 improves both the thermal- and the photo-oxidative aging resistance of SBS modified asphalt significantly.
