TL;DR: In this paper, a display and control logic are coupled to the display and the control logic is configured to receive display data and render the display data into control signals for driving the display.
Abstract: An apparatus including a display and control logic is provided. In one example, the display includes an array of subpixels having a plurality of zigzag subpixel groups. Each zigzag subpixel group includes at least three zigzag subpixel units arranged adjacently along a horizontal or vertical direction. Each zigzag subpixel unit includes a plurality of subpixels of the same color arranged in a zigzag pattern. In each zigzag subpixel unit, a first plurality of subpixels are arranged along one diagonal direction from a turning subpixel disposed at a turning corner of the zigzag pattern, and a second plurality of subpixels are arranged along another diagonal direction from the turning subpixel. In another example, the display includes an array of subpixels having a novel subpixel repeating group. The control logic is operatively coupled to the display and configured to receive display data and render the display data into control signals for driving the display.

TL;DR: In this article, the edge of intersection between the planes of such polygons is resolved by determining the edges of intersections between the polygons and testing the signs of certain values in accordance with predetermined criteria, and subpixel priority is treated for similar resolution to provide improved antialiased images.
Abstract: Image data is composed from primitives (polygons) to attain data for displays with the removal of hidden surfaces and smooth-appearing edges. Defined polygons are tested for priority in a determined field of vision by scan conversion to specify individual picture elements (pixels). Polygon contention for pixels is resolved by determining the edge of intersection between the planes of such polygons and testing the signs of certain values in accordance with predetermined criteria. Subpixel priority is treated for similar resolution to provide improved antialiased images.

TL;DR: Two methods for downscaling coarse resolution thermal infrared (TIR) radiance for the purpose of subpixel temperature retrieval were developed on the basis of a scale-invariant physical model on TIR radiance and a statistical relationship between TIR Radiance and land cover fraction at high spatial resolution.
Abstract: Land surface temperature (LST) retrieved from satellite thermal sensors often consists of mixed temperature components. Retrieving subpixel LST is therefore needed in various environmental and ecological studies. In this paper, we developed two methods for downscaling coarse resolution thermal infrared (TIR) radiance for the purpose of subpixel temperature retrieval. The first method was developed on the basis of a scale-invariant physical model on TIR radiance. The second method was based on a statistical relationship between TIR radiance and land cover fraction at high spatial resolution. The two methods were applied to downscale simulated 990-m ASTER TIR data to 90-m resolution. When validated against the original 90-m ASTER TIR data, the results revealed that both downscaling methods were successful in capturing the general patterns of the original data and resolving considerable spatial details. Further quantitative assessments indicated a strong agreement between the true values and the estimated values by both methods.

TL;DR: A new resolution enhancement method is presented for multispectral and multiresolution images, such as those provided by the Sentinel-2 satellites, where band-dependent information is separated from information that is common to all bands, to preserve the subpixel details.
Abstract: A new resolution enhancement method is presented for multispectral and multiresolution images, such as those provided by the Sentinel-2 satellites. Starting from the highest resolution bands, band-dependent information (reflectance) is separated from information that is common to all bands (geometry of scene elements). This model is then applied to unmix low-resolution bands, preserving their reflectance, while propagating band-independent information to preserve the subpixel details. A reference implementation is provided, with an application example for super-resolving Sentinel-2 data.

TL;DR: In this paper, a pixel-dividing technique and a capacitively-coupled driving method are combined to achieve a gray-scale display based on a digital image signal.
Abstract: An active matrix liquid crystal display device has a plurality of unit pixels being arranged in a matrix configuration, each unit pixel being divided into a plurality of subpixels. Each of the subpixels has a subpixel electrode, a pixel transistor connected to the subpixel electrode, and a voltage controlling capacitor connected to the subpixel electrode. A voltage controlling capacitor line for supplying a compensation voltage signal is connected to the voltage controlling capacitor so that after the writing to the subpixel has been completed, the potential of the compensation voltage signal is varied to modulate the potential of the subpixel electrode to be a predetermined voltage, using the voltage controlling capacitor. Such combining of spatial dithering attained by a pixel-dividing technique and a capacitively-coupled driving method eliminates the need for digital-to-analog converter circuits, attains gray scale display based on a digital image signal, and achieves a reduction in power consumption.
