TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of a reflective layer in the non-active region which reflects photons back into the crystal for a second chance at detection was simulated and the collection efficiency for these photons was found to be of the same order as the scintillation photon collection efficiency.
Abstract: As part of a project to develop a complete stochastic model of the solid state photomultiplier (SSPM), we simulated the effects of a reflective layer in the non-active region which reflects photons back into the crystal for a second chance at detection. The scintillation photon collection efficiency of the proposed device is greater than that predicted by the scintillation yield and the ratio of active area. The added reflectivity also increases external optical crosstalk from hot carrier emissions and the collection efficiency for these photons was simulated to be of the same order as the scintillation photon collection efficiency. As a function of excess bias, the rate of hot carrier emissions will rise more rapidly than the photon detection efficiency (PDE), setting a practical upper limit on the applied bias. Due to spectral mismatch between detection and avalanche emission, a blue-sensitve SSPM will be largely transparent to its own emissions. The spatial dependence of externally reflected hot carrier emissions was determined to be approximately uniform.

TL;DR: In this paper, a hydrogenated nanocrystalline silicon (nc-Si:H) films have been fabricated as resistive switching medium by radio frequency plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition technology.
Abstract: The hydrogenated nanocrystalline silicon (nc-Si:H) films have been fabricated as resistive switching medium by radio frequency plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition technology. The constructed Ag/nc-Si:H/Pt structure exhibits stable three nonvolatile resistance states. Tristate resistive states with large ratio 102 and 105, less variation of resistance, and long retention exceeding 2.3 × 105 s are observed in Ag/nc-Si:H/Pt stack. The temperature dependence of high resistance state (HRS) and intermediate resistance state (IRS) both show semiconductor behavior, and the temperature dependence of low resistance state (LRS) represents metallic property. Fitting results demonstrated that the conduction mechanism of HRS, IRS, and LRS showed space charge limited conduction (SCLC), tunneling, and ohmic characteristics, respectively. The discrete Ag filament with Si nanocrystalline and complete Ag filament is proposed to be responsible for the performance IRS and LRS. We supposed that the Ag+ ions prefer to be ...

TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe an aqueous cathodic electrocoating material which contains a synthetic resin binder containing amino and/or hydroxyl groups and capable of being rendered water-soluble by the addition of an acid.
Abstract: The invention relates to an aqueous cathodic electrocoating material which contains a synthetic resin binder containing amino and/or hydroxyl groups and capable of being rendered water-soluble by the addition of an acid. The synthetic resin binder contains a mixture of crosslinking agents, as well as pigments, fillers, corrosion inhibitors, surface coating assistants, if appropriate catalysts, and organic solvents in an amount of up to 15% by weight, based on the total weight of the coating material. The mixture of crosslinking agents consists of at least two crosslinking agents which possess different reactivities and are based on activated esters and/or polyisocyanates blocked with different blocking agents. Different reactivities means that the crosslinking reactions begin at temperatures which are at least 10° C. apart. The crosslinking reagent which reacts first is present in an amount of from 15 to 60 mol %, based on the mixture of crosslinking agents.

TL;DR: In this article, a solvent-free vulcanizable polyorganosiloxane rubber of very high solids is presented, which cures to form a high-gloss surface coating with minimal shrinkage.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a solvent-free vulcanizable polyorganosiloxane rubber of very high solids, which cures to form a high-gloss surface coating with minimal shrinkage. The polyorganosiloxane rubber coating composition contains a functionalized polydiorganosiloxane polymerizable under suitable conditions to form a coating and one or more additives selected from catalysts or initiators for curing the polymerizable polydiorganosiloxane, adhesion promoters, reinforcing fillers, and inorganic extending or non-reinforcing fillers. The composition is free of solvents or diluents and the viscosity of the polydiorganosiloxane is chosen to allow the composition to be applied by standard techniques to cure with minimal shrinkage and high gloss.

TL;DR: In this article, an induction conductor (3, 4, 5, 6) is used as means for the production of high frequency electromagnetic fields with which high frequency surface near alternating currents are induced in the joining area of the steel substrate.
Abstract: The method comprises removing a surface coating of steel substrates (1, 2) under use of means for the production of high frequency electromagnetic fields in a joining area (10) and subsequently connecting both steel substrates with one another in the joining area. An induction conductor (3, 4, 5, 6) is used as means for the production of high frequency electromagnetic fields with which high frequency surface near alternating currents are induced in the joining area of the steel substrates. The steel substrate is welded under use of inductive high frequency welding and resistance welding. The method comprises removing a surface coating of steel substrates (1, 2) under use of means for the production of high frequency electromagnetic fields in a joining area (10) and subsequently connecting both steel substrates with one another in the joining area. An induction conductor (3, 4, 5, 6) is used as means for the production of high frequency electromagnetic fields with which high frequency surface near alternating currents are induced in the joining area of the steel substrates. The steel substrate is welded under use of inductive high frequency welding, resistance welding, and arc or laser radiation welding in the joining area. The joining area of the steel substrates is a joining edge or joining surface. The surface coating is removed on both sides in the area of the joining edge and/or surface through the means arranged on both sides of the steel substrates. The steel substrate consists of aluminum-silicon corrosion protective surface coating. The surface coating is strongly heated at melt temperature in the joining area of the steel substrates for evaporating the coating. The steel substrate consists of steel alloy and is moved relative against the means for the production of electromagnetic fields. The steel substrates are band-shaped and joined together directly after removing the surface coating of the steel substrates.
