TL;DR: In this paper, the authors defined the magnitude of electromagnetic enhancement in SERS by the electric field strength on the metal surface, which is enhanced at the resonance of a surface plasmon polariton (SPP) mode.
Abstract: Electromagnetic field intensity is calculated numerically near a sinusoidal metal surface and for a p-polarized incident wave. We define the magnitude of electromagnetic enhancement in SERS by the electric field strength on the metal surface, which is enhanced at the resonance of a surface plasmon polariton (SPP) mode. Then we have the enhancement factor to be at most 100, which is much smaller than the observed enhancement.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of surface roughness on the opical characteristics of metal is considered and the field near the rough surface has been calculated on the basis of integral equations containing only smoothly varying field components.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this article, a plasmon surface polariton (PSP) spectroscopy has been applied to dye monolayer assemblies on silver films to study exciton-surface PLASmon interactions.

TL;DR: In this paper, the diffraction effect on inelastic scattering related to surface and bulk plasmon excitations was investigated, and a kinematical two-step picture is suitable for Bragg peaks, and two peaks due to DL (Diffraction before loss) and LD processes are observed equally.
Abstract: ILEED measurements by electron energy analyser were performed to investigate the diffraction effect on inelastic scattering related to surface and bulk plasmon excitations. The relation between elastic and inelastic I–V curves of the 00-beam is discussed. A kinematical two-step picture is suitable for Bragg peaks, and two peaks due to DL (Diffraction before Loss) and LD processes are observed equally. For fractional order peaks, dynamical consideration is required, and the transition probability is affected by the symmetry between the initial and final states. Enhancement of surface plasmon excitation due to surface resonance was observed.

TL;DR: In this article, two-dimensional magnetoplasmons in electron inversion layers of Si(100) have been investigated using MOS capacitors with submicron structured periodical gates.
Abstract: Two-dimensional magnetoplasmons in electron inversion layers of Si(100) have been investigated using MOS capacitors with submicron structured periodical gates. The amplitude and position of the magnetoplasmon resonance follows only in general the classical plasmon dispersion. At fields Bc/n(n=2,3,...) where the plasmon frequency is a multiple of the cyclotron frequency there are pronounced changes of the position and strong modifications of the amplitude of the plasmon resonance. The plasmon linewidth is not affected significantly by magnetic fields up to 12 T.

TL;DR: In this paper, the space and time correlation of the ion and ions near the surface, and the contribution of the time correlation due to the surface plasmon excitation to the ion trajectory were investigated.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: The plasmon frequencies of a system with a three-dimensional electron density which has a one-dimensional periodic structure are calculated in the framework of the hydrodynamic model in this article.
