TL;DR: This study shows that regulated, flexible discriminatory pricing based on two-part tariff is the development trend of telecom services, which is determined by the characteristics of the telecommunications services, competition, demand-price elasticity and other factors.
Abstract: Telecom industry plays an important role in national economic development because of its extensive external economic advantages; thus, it is very important to discuss the pricing methods of the telecom services. According to the economic analysis of the two circumstances of the telecommunications businesses, which is based on realizing the maximum of social welfare (from the standpoint of consumers) and realizing the maximum of profits (from the standpoint of telecom operators), this paper discusses the cost characteristics of the telecommunications businesses, and points out that the telecom operators pursuing the maximum of profit set higher prices than they do when pursuing the maximum of social welfare. This study shows that regulated, flexible discriminatory pricing based on two-part tariff is the development trend of telecom services, which is determined by the characteristics of the telecom services, competition, demand-price elasticity and other factors.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the influence of the New China Telecom and China Netcom merger on 74 telecommunications organizations' stock price and performance. And the results of empirically implementing the approach indicate that the event produced unfavorable influence on China telecommunications, which is inconsistent with the original aim.
Abstract: New China Telecom and China Netcom were founded on May 16th 2002, in order to break China Telecom's monopoly in local service access and thus form multiple and all-round competitive market. The paper studies the influence which the event produced on 74 telecommunications organizations' stock price and performance. The methodology is the event study. The results of empirically implementing the approach indicate that the event produced unfavorable influence on China telecommunications, which is inconsistent with the original aim. In fact, the division of primary China Telecom changed the national monopoly into the south-north area monopoly. In other words, there hasn't formed the effective competitive system in China telecommunications. China telecommunications should take both scale efficiency and economic efficiency into account in the process of reformation. When introducing the competition, the government can enforce the regulation by implementing the incentive regulation.

TL;DR: The corporate ethics and corporate governance depend on various aspects in the functions of management as mentioned in this paper and the apt application of the theories of Ethics and Corporate Governance paves the way for the success of a concern.
Abstract: The corporate ethics and corporate governance depend on various aspects in the functions of management. Thus the apt application of the theories of ethics and corporate governance paves the way for the success of a concern. Thus the success of an organization is vested with the hands of customers. They are not aware of the unethical practices within the organization. A good concern should be aware of business ethics which are necessary for economic growth. If there is a perfect corporate governance in an organization, it is considered that there exists maximum utilization of available men, material and money. Only through the implementation of business ethics successfully, the goodwill is achieved by the concern. Telecom infrastructure is treated as a crucial factor to realize the socio economic objectives in India. With the recognition of nonaffordability of implementing better infrastructural facilities the policy of liberalization in this sector came into existence. This led to the emergence of private operators in the cellular service and WLL service. Public sector undertakings like BSNL and MTNL also started offering cellular services along with basic wire line services. Liberalisation and privatization in service sector lead to corporate failure is the experience in general. Through the corporatization of Telecom sector in India competition, deregulation and technological changes were there, which could bring changes on the way of functions of telecom sector. As a result of aggressive moves by competitors entering from other sectors and rapid change in telecoms' established value chains, operators need to respond to these changes with the migration of value from charging for minutes of usage to carrying rising volumes of data across networks.

TL;DR: In this article , the authors presented the application of the soft systems methodology (SSM) as a problem structuring tool, as well as the first step of a methodological approach that will provide decision support based on multi-criteria decision analysis in the planning of energy for telecom networks across sub-Saharan Africa.
Abstract: This research paper narrates the application of the soft systems methodology (SSM) as a problem structuring tool, as well as the first step of a methodological approach that will provide decision support based on multi-criteria decision analysis in the planning of energy for telecom networks across sub-Saharan Africa. To ensure applicability of the methodology to a real-world issue, an international telecom tower company based in East Africa was selected as the case study. The SSM is utilized to characterize the decision problem context precisely, identify major stakeholder groups and their connections, and to discover each one's interests. This helps to achieve appropriate and holistic energy planning and management unlike the current trends which employ a reductionist approach. The outcome of the work leads to a model using SSM where stakeholder inputs can be captured, for the telecom company.
