Abstract: Gone are the days when people had to wait for months and years at a time to get a personal telephone connection. Now just about anyone can get a mobile connection in a matter of minutes and start communicating with the world, that too at cheap prices. This has been made possible due to the tremendous growth of telecom facilities within the country. Behind this phenomenal success story of Indian telecom is the telecom tower industry which lies at the heart of telecom services. In this article we will review some of the key aspects of this critical infrastructure, some of its major challenges and the latest Government initiatives.

TL;DR: In this article, a new type of developments, the so-called "Megaresorts" is defined, which is usually associated with a sole investor developing a huge site which is appropriate for several hotels of different sizes and levels, private villas and apartments, shopping areas, a golf course and a marina (when in a coastal zone).
Abstract: The tourism boom of the last decade, with Asia and the Middle East being its main drivers, has boosted a new type of developments, the so-called “Megaresorts”. There is no common definition of that term, but it is usually associated with a sole investor developing a huge site which is appropriate for several hotels of different sizes and levels, private villas and apartments, shopping areas, a golf course and a marina (when in a coastal zone). Often, such developments are planned for areas which do not yet have the required infrastructure. Therefore the development of transport facilities (both roads and airports), water & energy supplies, telecom infrastructure, solid waste and sewage management facilities etc. is part of the project, and it is not unusual that the private investors take over roles and responsibilities which usually have to be assumed by governments from the public cofret. The investment volume for such Megaresorts frequently passes the 1 Billion US$ line.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors take the responses of 803 customers of different telecom service providers and analyses their response with respect to quality perception, duration of use and switch intention and find that long term customers with higher level of satisfaction and higher income are more likely to have greater intention to switch.
Abstract: Telecom Service Industry in India is going through a phase of high growth, excessive competition, continual lowering of tariffs and rapid change of technology. Policies are still evolving and causing substantial change in the competitive landscape. Telecom Services have become more commoditized; it is easy to replicate. The market can be compared to a red sea, and it does not give sustainable competitive advantage. Customer retention and addition of new customers becomes very crucial for the profitability and survival. The research takes the responses of 803 customers of different telecom service providers and analyses their response with respect to quality perception, duration of use and switch intention. The responses are further correlated to the demographics of the sample to generate understanding about their behavior. The research finds that there is a need to relook at the relatedness of ‘loyalty’ and ‘service quality’ concepts in telecom sector, precisely when customers are simultaneously using multiple services from multiple service providers. The data analysis indicates that long term customers with higher level of satisfaction and higher income are more likely to have greater intention to switch.
