10 Aug 1999TL;DR: In this article, a home network gateway device 12 unitarily manages information of home network equipments 20, 24 and 34 connected to an IEEE 1392 bus at a dwelling house, and inserts the information in a form of a list menu on a built-in WWW server.
Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To unitarily manage home network equipments without burdening a user, and to remotely operate the equipment through a wide band network such as an Internet. SOLUTION: This home network gateway device 12 unitarily manages information of home network equipments 20, 24 and 34 connected to an IEEE 1392 bus at a dwelling house 10. That is, when the equipments are connected to the network, the device 12 acquires information of the equipments from each equipment (or downloads the information from a download server 42), and inserts the information in a form of a list menu on a built-in WWW server 16. It is possible to individually control the home network equipments means of the list menu from devices 41 and 47 on other network. COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO

TL;DR: In this article, the authors propose a method to correlate web page files (HTML, SHTML, DHTML, or CGI files) with user sessions during which users perform their business transactions over the Internet.
Abstract: Conventionally, a web site stores Internet data indicating file access status for the files that have been accessed in response to requests from web browsers. Unfortunately, the Internet data are kept as a set of separate and non-correlated data records that are chronologically arranged according to the times at which the requests have been received and processed. Consequently, the Internet data are not arranged meaningful to management and business operation. The present invention is able to correlate web page files (HTML, SHTML, DHTML, or CGI files) with individual users. The present invention is also able to correlate web page files with user sessions during which users perform their business transactions over the Internet.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors argue for skepticism vis-a-vis the "realistic" stance that is now employed to evaluate the success of development-oriented applications of the Internet in India.
Abstract: Against the view that the millennium brought only unrealistic hype around the socially transformative potentials of the Internet, I argue for skepticism vis-a-vis the “realistic” stance that is now employed to evaluate the success of development-oriented applications of the Internet in India. Focusing on the heyday of ICT4D (information and communication technologies for development) projects, I move beyond the stalemate of hype versus debunking to suggest, instead, that although the discourse of development helped to legitimize the Internet as an “appropriate technology,” its emphasis on functional solutions also helped to obscure the Internet's more ambiguous emergent potentials.

TL;DR: In order to develop the academic and policy agendas for researching children's online risks and opportunities, the EC's Safer Internet Programme (subsequently renamed Better Internet for Kids) funded the EU Kids Online network from 2006 to 2014 as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: In order to develop the academic and policy agendas for researching children’s online risks and opportunities, the EC’s Safer Internet Programme (subsequently renamed Better Internet for Kids) funded the EU Kids Online network from 2006 to 2014. This collaboration among some 150 researchers in 33 countries across Europe brought together diverse disciplines, methodological expertise and research specialisms (for an overview, see Livingstone, 2014). Such an innovative project has needed a strong multidisciplinary research framework to guide the design and conduct of its empirical research and the construction of specific hypotheses for data analysis and policy implications.
