Abstract: From soil a caffeine degrading bacterium was isolated which is able to grow on media containing up to 2% caffeine as the sole source of carbon and nitrogen. The organism was identified as Pseudomonas putida and referred to as Pseudomonas putida WS. Mutants of this strain converted caffeine and were shown to accumulate a mixture of theobromine and heteroxanthine during resting cells experiments.

TL;DR: The results support Sertoli cells as the primary target cells of theobromine toxicity in rats treated with cocoa extract and could account for the lower toxicity in these animals.

TL;DR: No significant difference was found in the pharmacokinetic profile of the drug after acute or chronic treatment at different doses except for a reduction in the absorption rate constant as the dose increased and AUC values increased in proportion to the dose.
