TL;DR: In this paper, a three-phase switch-mode rectifier (SMR) topology is proposed to reduce the component stresses in higher-10kW applications. But the authors also present an analysis and design approach for three phase SMR converters under large input voltage and load variations.
Abstract: Single-phase offline switch mode rectifiers (or offline DC-DC converters) face severe component stresses in higher than 10kW applications. The authors show that in three-phase, switch-mode rectifier (SMR) topologies' component stresses are reduced, and performance is improved substantially. These improvements include faster response times, reduced switching stresses of the power semiconductor devices, and reduced size and ratings of associated reactive components. The authors also present an analysis and design approach for three-phase SMR converters under large-input voltage and load variations. Output voltage control is achieved by varying the duty cycle of the inverter power semiconductor switches. Theoretical results are verified experimentally. >

TL;DR: A full-bridge boost power converter topology is studied for power factor control, using output higher order sliding mode control, and multi-rate simulation illustrates the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed controller in the presence of measurement noise.
Abstract: In this paper, a full-bridge boost power converter topology is studied for power factor control, using output higher order sliding mode control. The AC/DC converters are used for charging the battery and super-capacitor in hybrid electric vehicles from the utility. The proposed control forces the input currents to track the desired values, which can control the output voltage while keeping the power factor close to one. Super-twisting sliding mode observer is employed to estimate the input currents and load resistance only from the measurement of output voltage. Lyapunov analysis shows the asymptotic convergence of the closed-loop system to zero. Multi-rate simulation illustrates the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed controller in the presence of measurement noise.

TL;DR: The digital control of a three-phase three-switch buck-type rectifier system is analyzed and two prediction methods for time-delay compensation, i.e., a linear prediction and the Smith prediction, are comparatively evaluated.
Abstract: The digital control of a three-phase three-switch buck-type rectifier system is analyzed in this paper. Three main sources of time delays in the control loop can be identified for the implementation on a digital signal processor (DSP): 1) the delay time due to the sampling of the control quantities; 2) the one due to the calculation time of the DSP; and 3) the one due to the sample-and-hold function of the pulsewidth modulator. Using the buck-type system as an example, the influence of the time delay on the stability of the inner current control loop is discussed, and two prediction methods for time-delay compensation, i.e., a linear prediction and the Smith prediction, are comparatively evaluated. The control performance and the effect of the delay times and the prediction methods are shown by simulation results and through measurements on a 5-kW prototype.

TL;DR: In this article, a space vector PWM technique is developed based on the combination of space vectors from dual inverters feeding the induction motor from both ends (open-end winding without neutral point).
Abstract: The technique of space vector PWM control of dual voltage source inverter fed three phase open-end winding induction motor is presented in this paper. A space vector PWM technique is developed based on the combination of space vectors from dual inverters feeding the induction motor from both ends (open-end winding without neutral point). A total of 64 voltage space vector combinations are available for PWM voltage control of the inverter fed machine with open-end winding A space phasor based PWM scheme is proposed with minimum number of switching in a cycle per inverter coupled with equal number of switching for each inverter. All the voltage space vector combinations are utilized for generating the reference voltage vector to cover the entire speed range. The open-end winding structure can have significant third harmonic currents unless suitable third harmonic filters are used to suppress it. The third harmonic currents are suppressed by using isolated transformers for both inverters.
