TL;DR: In this article, a tristate pulse-width modulation technique has been employed, in which three adjacent switching states are used to construct the reference voltage, and the active switching states were arranged at the edge and the center of a PWM cycle.
Abstract: Three-phase current reconstruction technique using dc current information in conventional two-level inverters can be used for the purpose of cost reduction and sensor fault tolerance. A novel phase current reconstruction scheme, with reduced immeasurable area and common mode voltage, is proposed in this paper. A tristate pulse-width modulation technique has been employed, in which three adjacent switching states are used to construct the reference voltage. The active switching states are arranged at the edge and the center of a PWM cycle. Fixed sampling and simultaneous three-phase currents can be easily achieved with very little hardware and software requirements. A detailed analysis of the effects of nonidealities leads to regional modifications of the switching sequence resulting in almost the whole hexagon as the feasible area. The usefulness of the proposed reconstruction algorithm has been verified by experimental results obtained from a 4-kW induction motor drive system. Smooth transitions between the redundant and fault-tolerant modes were observed.

TL;DR: A novel zero voltage vector sampling method (ZVVSM) is proposed, which can move the current reconstruction dead zones in low modulation region and sector boundary regions toward the outline of the space vector hexagon without modifying PWM signal.
Abstract: For the purpose of reducing cost and volume, techniques of reconstructing three-phase currents through a single current sensor have been reported for permanent magnet synchronous motor vector control system. In existing studies, the reconstruction precision is largely affected by the dead zones in space vector PWM plane, which requires additional efforts to compensate the dead zones either by modifying pulse width modulation (PWM) modulation strategy or by phase-shifting of PWM signal. In this paper, a novel zero voltage vector sampling method (ZVVSM) is proposed, which can move the current reconstruction dead zones in low modulation region and sector boundary regions toward the outline of the space vector hexagon without modifying PWM signal. By arranging the single current sensor at a novel position, the proposed method is able to sample current in two zero voltage vectors (ZVV). ZVVSM avoids the complicated algorithms as well as the increase of the switching times, so that it is beneficial to the PMSM drive performance. The proposed method is validated by both simulation and experiments.

TL;DR: In this paper, the performance of an isolated self-excited induction generator under a wide range of operating conditions is examined and it is found that the machine operates only in certain element ranges and that all generated currents and voltages are bounded.
Abstract: Dependency of the output voltage and frequency of the isolated self-excited induction generator on the speed, load, and terminal capacitance causes certain limitations on its performance. In this study, the performance of the induction generator under a wide range of operating conditions is examined. It is found that the machine operates only in certain element ranges and that all generated currents and voltages are bounded. It is also shown that a combination of these elements exists that is optimal for maximum power generation. >

TL;DR: In this article, a practical method for calculating the harmonic currents of a three-phase bridge rectifier with a DC filter, taking into account the AC source reactance, is proposed.
Abstract: A practical method is proposed for calculating the harmonic currents of a three-phase bridge uncontrolled rectifier with a DC filter, taking into account the AC source reactance. The method is based on the frequency-domain method and the rectifier switching functions. Analytical equations for the harmonic currents on both the DC and AC sides are derived. The validity of the method is demonstrated by comparison with the results of time simulation. The approach can be extended to the harmonic analysis of a thyristor rectifier as well as a rectifier with unbalanced line conditions. >
