TL;DR: The cellular basis of immunoglobulin formation in cold-blooded vertebrates thus appears to be the same as that in mammals.
Abstract: Cells with the light microscopic and ultrastructural features of mamalian plasma cells were observed in lympoid tissues of long-term stimulated Bufo marinus, the marine toad. Cells with this morphology were the only cells which could be stained by the fluorescent antibody method. The cellular basis of immunoglobulin formation in cold-blooded vertebrates thus appears to be the same as that in mammals. Bufo marinus plasma cells were most abundant in the kidney lymphoid tissue, and in the margins of granulomas formed at the sites of injection of antigen in complete adjuvant.

TL;DR: A discriminant analysis resulted in three groups corresponding to B. arenarum, Bufo rufus, and the specimens herein described as a new species of toad being described.
Abstract: A new species of toad is described from small streams in the hills of Cuchilla de Haedo and Cuchilla Grande in northeastern Uruguay. Specimens of the new species were previously mistaken for Bufo arenarum; they differ from B. arenarum by having elongated parotoid glands and reddish-brown parotoid and cephalic crests. A discriminant analysis resulted in three groups corresponding to B. arenarum, Bufo rufus, and the specimens herein described as a new species.

TL;DR: The results clearly show that a phytohemagglutinin (PHA)/IL-2 sensitive splenocyte population is removed by NMU injection, and the predominant PHA activatable, r IL-2 binding cell populations of the toad appear to be T cells which are involved with helper and cytotoxic functions.
