TL;DR: This paper will cover overall system issues as well as detailed description of the algorithms applied to recover high dynamic range image.
Abstract: In this paper, a novel method of improving dynamic range of imaging device is proposed. Unlike multi-capture HDR methods, the suggested method requires only a small modification to existing CMOS imaging sensor. By changing exposure time line by line, one can obtain a multi-exposure image in a single capture of an image. With such captured image, digital image processing algorithms are applied to recover the lost vertical resolution with minimal degradation. This paper will cover overall system issues as well as detailed description of the algorithms applied to recover high dynamic range image.

TL;DR: For full-color e-paper displays that have a small color gamut, this work improves distorted image tones in high-saturation regions using saturation-based tone-mapping curves derived from measured chroma-s saturation characteristic.
Abstract: For full-color e-paper displays that have a small color gamut, we improve distorted image tones in high-saturation regions using saturation-based tone-mapping curves derived from measured chroma-saturation characteristic. The improvements are experimentally verified via several test charts and natural images. More important, the method can adapt to varying ambient light.

TL;DR: In this paper, a digital image tone remapping method is described, which includes computing an average luminance value of the digital image, generating a preliminary tone mapping function according to the average, and generating a luminance statistic of the image.
Abstract: A digital image tone remapping method is disclosed. The method includes computing an average luminance value of a digital image; generating a preliminary tone mapping function according to the average luminance value; generating a luminance statistic of the digital image; determining new remapped values for a plurality of skeleton luminance values according to the preliminary tone mapping function and the luminance statistic; generating a final tone mapping function according to the new remapped values and the plurality of skeleton luminance values; and remapping the digital image through the final tone mapping function. The present invention also discloses an apparatus performing the method.

TL;DR: A novel contrast enhancement algorithm to bring the local contrast of the tonemapped images closer to that of the HDR images and formulate it as an optimization problem and results suggest that the proposed method can greatly enhance the visual quality of the tone-mapped images by bringing out details in the extreme bright and dark regions.
Abstract: Tone-mapping refers to methods for rendering high dynamic range (HDR) images on low dynamic range (LDR) displays. However, strong tonal compression in tone mapping process often causes those tone-mapped LDR images to have much less local contrast compared with the original HDR images. In this paper, we propose a novel contrast enhancement algorithm to bring the local contrast of the tonemapped images closer to that of the HDR images and formulate it as an optimization problem. Simulation results suggest that the proposed method can greatly enhance the visual quality of the tone-mapped images by bringing out details in the extreme bright and dark regions.
