TL;DR: In this paper, generalized quark distributions in the nucleon describe the density of polarized quarks in the impact parameter plane, both for longitudinal and transverse polarization of the quark and the nucleus.
Abstract: We show how generalized quark distributions in the nucleon describe the density of polarized quarks in the impact parameter plane, both for longitudinal and transverse polarization of the quark and the nucleon. This density representation entails positivity bounds including chiral-odd distributions, which tighten the known bounds in the chiral-even sector. Using the quark equations of motion, we derive relations between the moments of chiral-odd generalized parton distributions of twist two and twist three. We exhibit the analogy between polarized quark distributions in impact parameter space and transverse momentum dependent distribution functions.

TL;DR: In this article, continuous point source and instantaneous finite source methods are presented for determining the transverse dispersion coefficient of saturated porous media in laboratory column experiments, which are tested in a column packed with glass beads for comparison with reported flow tank tests.
Abstract: Continuous point source and instantaneous finite source methods are presented for determining the transverse dispersion coefficient of saturated porous media in laboratory column experiments. The methods entail injecting a conservative tracer from an injector embedded in a porous medium, monitoring concentration variations with time within the column upgradient from where the tracer impinges on the column wall, and extracting longitudinal and transverse dispersion coefficient values from relative concentration-time data using three-dimensional advection-dispersion formulations. The methods were tested in a column packed with glass beads for comparison with reported flow tank tests. The transverse dispersion coefficient values calculated using column test data agree closely with flow tank results. The methods presented offer new approaches for investigating dispersion phenomena in porous media and especially offer the potential for determining the transverse as well as the longitudinal dispersion coefficient of undisturbed core samples.

TL;DR: It is shown that the Luttinger liquid is unstable to arbitrarily small transverse hopping and can be treated exactly and yields a Fermi liquid down to zero temperature, unless the anomalous exponent $\theta $ is larger than unity.
Abstract: It is shown that the Luttinger liquid is unstable to arbitrarily small transverse hopping. It becomes either a Fermi liquid or exhibits long-range order at zero temperature. The crossover temperatures below which either transverse coherent band motion or long-range order start to develop can be finite even when spin and charge velocities differ. Explicit scaling relations for the one-particle and two-particle crossover temperatures are derived in terms of transverse hopping amplitude, spin and charge velocities as well as anomalous exponents. The special case of infinite-range transverse hopping can be treated exactly and yields a Fermi liquid down to zero temperature, unless the anomalous exponent $\theta $ is larger than unity.

TL;DR: In this article, a double-layer or multi-layer fabric of interwoven longitudinal and transverse threads is used for sheet forming in a paper making machine, where the transverse thread is disposed below the plane formed by the transversal threads of the paper supporting side.
Abstract: The fabric for the sheet forming section of a paper making machine includes a double-layer or multi-layer fabric of interwoven longitudinal and transverse threads and additional transverse threads floating on the paper supporting side. The additional transverse threads are interwoven in a plane disposed below the plane formed by the transverse threads of the paper supporting side. The additional transverse threads preferably have a smaller diameter than the ordinary transverse threads.
