TL;DR: In this article, a refined global approximation theory of thin multilayered anisotropic shells is developed, where the material of each layer of the shell is assumed to be linearly elastic or fiber reinforced.
Abstract: A refined global approximation theory of thin multilayered anisotropic shells is developed. The effects of the laminated material response, transverse shear, and transverse normal strains are included. The material of each layer of the shell is assumed to be linearly elastic, anisotropic, homogeneous, or fiber reinforced. As unknown functions the tangential displacements of the face surfaces and transverse displacements of the face or middle surfaces of the shell are chosen. It is an important feature of the proposed theory. This fact simplifies, for example, an analysis of the contact problems and allows to elaborate universal numerical algorithms. An exact solution for the problem of the bending of homogeneous isotropic rectangular plates subjected to a sinu- soidal load has been found. Numerical solutions for the problem of the bending of multilayered composite plates and cylindrical shells have been also obtained. The influence of anisotropy, and transverse shear and transverse normal deformation response of the stress state of the shell is examined.

TL;DR: In this article, the transverse areas of the conductors or conduits defined by such transversely cut, or otherwise transversely formed, and exposed end portions provide energizable signal energy planes.
Abstract: An interconnection system suitable for transmission lines, in the form of electrical or optical conductors, or in the form of conduits for electrical waveguide transmission, reflected light or fluidic signals, wherein lengths of such transmission lines bridge between discrete point-to-point location on a substrate, the transmission lines being anchored by sealant and filler material at selected substrate locations and being cut generally transversely, or otherwise transversely formed, to provide exposed conductor or conduit end portions anchored at the selected locations. The transverse areas of the conductors or conduits defined by such transversely cut, or otherwise transversely formed, and exposed end portions provide energizable signal energy planes. More specifically, such discrete energizable planes in the form of transverse conductor surfaces, are of a size and shape conforming to the transverse conductor areas exposed by cutting or other forming operation. Such conductors may be either insulated electrical or optical conductors provided thereover with metal or a metallized coating to result in an electrical shielded, or an optically shielded and reflecting, interconnection system. The transmission lines in the form of conduits provide discrete, end-anchored conduits for conveying signal energy excitations in the form of fluidic pressure, reflected optical energy or electrical waveguide transmissions. The ends of the conduits are anchored in the substrate and define generally transverse end openings of the conduits. The transverse areas of such openings provide energizable signal energy planes through which the conveyed signal excitations are transmitted. The size and shape of the energizable signal energy planes conform to the conduit transverse end areas exposed by cutting.

TL;DR: In this article, a plane spiral orbital angular momentum (PS-OAM) carrying wave with the spiral harmonics of exp(− $jl\varphi$ ) as a complete set of eigenmodes is proposed to realize beam steering.
Abstract: A new form of plane spiral orbital angular momentum (PS-OAM) carrying wave with the spiral harmonics of exp(− $jl\varphi$ ) as a complete set of eigenmodes is proposed to realize beam steering. Such a wave possesses the fundamental characteristics of an OAM-carrying wave, i.e., a spiral phase distribution, yet propagates along transverse directions. Hence, it owes unique advantages for use in realizing desired radiation beams, while avoids the puzzles encountered by traditional OAM-carrying beams. Various OAM mode grouping using the superposition of PS-OAM waves are demonstrated here via theoretical calculations as well as experimental verifications. The generation methods for PS-OAM waves are also proposed and experimentally validated to authenticate the feasibility. Both the calculated and experimental results show that the PS-OAM grouping is capable of providing a practical realization of eigenmode beamforming.

TL;DR: In this article, the angular dependence of the transverse and vortex modes in a magnetic nanotube is investigated as a function of the tube geometry, by means of analytical calculations and numerical simulations.
Abstract: The angular dependence of the transverse and vortex modes in a magnetic nanotube is investigated as a function of the tube geometry, by means of analytical calculations and numerical simulations. A critical radius defining the transition between vortex and transverse reversal modes is determined, leading to low or high coercivity modes just by varying the direction of the external field, in a fixed nanotube.

TL;DR: In this article, a tensile tests under microscope were performed with the assistance of an image analysis system to measure the elastic properties of tracheids in the transverse plane of the trachea.
Abstract: This paper presents a method which makes it possible to measure elastic properties of a small group of tracheids in the transverse plane. The method is based on tensile tests under microscope that are performed with the assistance of an image analysis system. The calculation of the strain field is based on a global comparison of the grey levels between each deformed image and the initial image. All tests were carried out within one annual ring of spruce:
