TL;DR: In this paper, the synthesis of novel triazeno-group containing photopolymers is described including their characterization by spectroscopic methods, differential scanning calorimetry, and thermogravimetric analysis.
Abstract: The synthesis of novel triazeno-group containing photopolymers is described including their characterization by spectroscopic methods, differential scanning calorimetry, and thermogravimetric analysis. Triazene polymers synthesized by a polycondensation reaction between a bisdizaonium salt and a bifunctional secondary amine are well soluble in usual organic solvents. Transparent, light yellow films of these photopolymers may be produced by simple spin-coating and solution-casting techniques. The effect of polymer structural elements on the photolytic decomposition is studied. Depending on the structure of the polymer, thermolysis proceeds either via a one-step or two-step mechanism.

TL;DR: Molecular, isolated N3 H3 is observed in the gas phase after it sublimes from energetically processed ammonia and nitrogen films using a novel detection scheme of photoionization-driven reflectron time-of-flight mass spectroscopy and isotopically labeled starting material.
Abstract: The remarkable versatility of triazenes in synthesis, polymer chemistry and pharmacology has led to numerous experimental and theoretical studies. Surprisingly, only very little is known about the most fundamental triazene: the parent molecule with the chemical formula N3 H3 . Here we observe molecular, isolated N3 H3 in the gas phase after it sublimes from energetically processed ammonia and nitrogen films. Combining theoretical studies with our novel detection scheme of photoionization-driven reflectron time-of-flight mass spectroscopy we can obtain information on the isomers of triazene formed in the films. Using isotopically labeled starting material, we can additionally gain insight in the formation pathways of the isomers of N3 H3 under investigation and identify the isomers formed as triazene (H2 NNNH) and possibly triimide (HNHNNH).

TL;DR: In this paper, 1-Methylhomopiperazine was coupled with a series of diazonium salts to afford the 4-methyl-1-[2-aryl-1-diazenyl]-1,4-diazepanes (6), a new series of triazenes.
Abstract: 1-Methylhomopiperazine was coupled with a series of diazonium salts to afford the 4-methyl-1-[2-aryl-1-diazenyl]-1,4-diazepanes (6), a new series of triazenes. These compounds are, in the main, stable crystalline solids (some of the series are stable oils), and they have been characterized by 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy, IR spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry. NMR assignments were determined by 2D NMR and variable-temperature NMR experiments and by comparison with model compounds. A second series of new compounds, namely, 1,4-di-[2-aryl-1-diazenyl]-1,4-diazepanes (5), were prepared by coupling unsubstituted homopiperazine (1,4-diazepane) with 2 molar equivalents of the diazonium salt and were similarly characterized. The crystal and molecular structure of the parent member of this bis-triazene series (5, X = H) has been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis.Key words: triazene, bis-triazene, diazenyl, bis-diazenyl, diazonium salt, NMR, diazepane.
