TL;DR: Wang et al. as discussed by the authors presented a biological trickling filter treatment system and treatment method of domestic wastewater, where the treatment system comprises an intake water tank, wherein one end is connected with one end of an intake pipeline through a water pump, and the other end of the intake pipeline is arranged under the water distributing device; the biological filter comprises a box body, a plurality of effluent holes are formed at the bottom of the box body.
Abstract: The invention discloses a biological trickling filter treatment system and treatment method of domestic wastewater. The treatment system comprises an intake water tank, wherein the intake water tank is connected with one end of an intake pipeline through a water pump, the other end of the intake pipeline is connected with a water distributing device, and a biological trickling filter is arranged under the water distributing device; the biological trickling filter comprises a box body, a plurality of effluent holes are formed at the bottom of the box body, the interior of the box body comprises a pebble layer and a plurality of zeolite packing layers filled from the bottom to the top, a scrap iron layer is uniformly spread between the adjacent two zeolite packing layers, and a microbial film is attached to each zeolite packing layer; and wastewater is pumped into the intake pipeline by the water pump and is sprinkled dropwise by the water distributing device into the biological trickling filter to carry out purifying treatment. The effluent water quality meets the first-level discharge standard of 'Discharge standard of pollutants for municipal wastewater treatment plant', water exclusion and clogging phenomena do not occur in the operational process, and artificial ventilation is not needed, so that the biological trickling filter treatment system and treatment method can be applicable to distributed treatment of wastewater in rural areas of China.

TL;DR: The new Wellington Wastewater Treatment Plant will use the trickling filter/solids contact process (TF/SC), which is a hybrid of a plastic media trickler filter plant (similar to the Mangere and Bromley plants) and an activated sludge plant.
Abstract: The new Wellington Wastewater Treatment Plant will use the trickling filter/solids contact process (TF/SC), which is a hybrid of a plastic media trickling filter plant (similar to the Mangere and Bromley plants) and an activated sludge plant. The process combines the robustness, reliability, compactness and low energy cost of a trickling filter plant with the high effluent quality of a well operated activated sludge plant.

TL;DR: In this paper, a biological trickling filter was set up to study the influence factors of technological conditions on simultaneous desulfurization and denitrogenation of high temperature flue gas.
Abstract: The biological trickling filter was set up to study the influence factors of technological conditions on simultaneous desulfurization and denitrogenation of high temperature flue gas.The result revealed that sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides were simultaneously removed efficiently. The removal rate of SO2 was above 99.9%,and the removal rate of NOx was 60.2%,when temperature was 65 ℃,circulating liquid flow was 4.0—7.0 L/h,pH was 1.5,the residence time was 150 second, and inlet mass concentrations of SO2 and NOx were 2 000—3 000 mg/m3 and 500—1 000 mg/m3,respectively.

TL;DR: In this paper, a comparison among the most frequently used waste water systems in developing countries is presented, where various physico-chemical and biological techniques have been used for the treatment of domestic wastewater.
Abstract: The paper presents comparison among the most frequently used waste water systems in developing countries. Various physico-chemical and biological techniques have been used for the treatment of domestic wastewater. The wastewater is conventionally treated either by suspended growth system, by attached growth system or combined suspended and attached growth system. The system studied were oxidation pond, activated sludge, upflow anaerobic sludge blanket, trickling filter and constructed wetland. All the above systems were designed and analysed based upon the various factors such as BOD removal efficiency, land required, power required, HRT, quantity of sludge to be handled, initial, operational & maintenance cost. The main summary table for quantitative analysis is prepared based on per capita values. It also includes the advantages and disadvantages of the treatment processes.
