TL;DR: In this paper, Tetrabutylammonium bromide and 1,2-dichloroethane were used as a catalyst and a solvent, respectively, for the synthesis of triphenyl phosphate and benzyl benzoate.
Abstract: The synthetic reactions of triphenyl phosphate from diphenylphosphoryl chloride and sodium phenoxide and of benzyl benzoate from benzyl chloride and sodium benzoate with phase-transfer catalyst were studied in a heterogeneous liquid-liquid reaction system using an agitated vessel with a flat interface. Tetrabutylammonium bromide and 1,2-dichloroethane were used as a catalyst and a solvent, respectively. The behavior of the observed overall reaction rates was explained well by the proposed model. The overall reaction rates were proportional to the organic-phase interfacial concentrations of the actual reactants, tetrabutylammonium phenoxide for the synthesis of triphenyl phosphate and tetrabutylammonium benzoate for that of benzyl benzoate. Their interfacial concentrations were a unique function of the concentrations of tetrabutylammonium bromide and the respective sodium salts. The intrinsic reaction rate constants, for the synthetic reactions of triphenyl phosphate and benzyl benzoate, which were evaluated by fitting the rate data to the model prediction, were 2.33X10 6 and 2.56 m 3 /kmol.s at 303K, respectively

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a lubricating oil composition for an air conditioner for an automobile, capable of extremely reducing wear of a bearing and a sliding part of an HFC compressor, stably preventing wear for a long period of time and effectively suppressing formation of sludge.
Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a lubricating oil composition useful for an air conditioner for an automobile, capable of extremely reducing wear of a bearing and a sliding part of an HFC compressor, stably preventing wear for a long period of time and effectively suppressing formation of sludge, comprising a tri(alkylphenyl) phosphate and triphenyl phosphate as essential components. CONSTITUTION: This composition comprises (A) a mineral oil and/or a synthetic oil as a base oil for a lubricating oil, (B) 0.2-4.0wt.% of one or more of tri(alkylphenyl) phosphates of the formula (R is a 1-4C alkyl; (n) is 1-2) and (C) 0.03-1.5wt.% of triphenyl phosphate. Any of tricresyl phosphate, trixylenyl phosphate, tri(mono-n-butylphenyl) phosphate and tri(mono-t-butylphenyl) phosphate is used as the component B. The ratio of the component B to the component C is preferably 5:1 to 1.5:1. The component A is preferably a polyoxyalkylene glycol derivative.

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of triaryl phosphate on the flame retardancy of PPO-HIPS in conjunction with zinc and zinc borate was studied, and the results showed that triaryl phos phate may sequester triaryl pyrophate and thus eliminate its vapor phase activity.
Abstract: Samples of m-PPO (virgin and flame retarded) and high impact polystyrene blended with zinc and zinc borate (2ZnO·3B2O3·3.5H 2O), were pre pared. The effect of triaryl phosphate on the flame retardancy of PPO-HIPS in conjunction with zinc and zinc borate was studied. For polystyrene zinc borate shows some reduction in smoke generation. Zinc, however does not show any effect on smoke generation for high impact polystyrene. Triphenyl phosphate shows minimal flame retardancy in HIPS which is not enhanced by zinc.Addition of zinc gives an increase in oxygen index for FR m-PPO, whereas zinc borate decreases the OI values. Zinc borate may sequester triaryl phos phate and thus eliminate its vapor phase activity. Zinc borate shows a signifi cant reduction in smoke generation and rate of heat release for m-PPO.

TL;DR: In this article, a cellulose ester film stable even under severe conditions by using triphenyl phosphate having an acidic impurity content lower than a specified value as the plasticizer of the film is presented.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce a cellulose ester film stable even under severe conditions by using triphenyl phosphate having an acidic impurity content lower than a specified value as the plasticizer of the film. CONSTITUTION:Triphenyl phosphate having an acidic impurity content lower than 0.50mol% (based on the phosphate) is used as the plasticizer for producing the film. The obtd. film is suitable for a carrier of a silver halide photographic material, a protective film of a polarizing plate, etc., hardly under goes any decrease in viscosity, i.e., a decrease in the degree of polymn., even under such severe conditions as in a tightly sealed metal case or at high temp. and humidity, and hence is excellent in weatherability, resistances to wet heat and dark wet heat, and storage stability.
