TL;DR: In this article, the root extract of Planchonia careya has been used to extract 16-deoxybarring-togenol C, barringtogenols C and 16α,21β,22α,28-tetrahydroxyolean-12-en-3-one.
Abstract: From the ether extract of the bark of Planchonia careya there have been isolated 16-deoxybarring-togenol C, barringtogenol C and the previously unreported 16α,21β,22α,28-tetrahydroxyolean-12-en-3-one. The methanol extract, after mild acid hydrolysis, gave the same three compounds together with three new esterified triterpene glycosides, the structures of which have been elucidated.

TL;DR: The conversion of mevalonate into squalene exhibited an absolute requirement for ATP and Mn2+ and was enhanced in the presence of NADP or NADPH.
Abstract: Evidence for the conversion of [2-14C]mevalonic acid into triterpene and some tetraterpene components of Neurospora crassa in a cell-free system is presented. Radioactivity in the non-saponifiable ...

TL;DR: From the bark extractives of Mesua myrtifolia (a Malaysian species) simiarenone, simiara, simianol, taraxerol, betulinic acid, and a new triterpene acid was isolated as discussed by the authors, which was correlated with bauerene and identified as 3α-hydroxybauer-7-en-28-oic acid.
Abstract: From the bark extractives of Mesua myrtifolia(a Malaysian species) simiarenone, simiarenol, taraxerol, betulinic acid, and a new triterpene acid, myrtifolic acid, have been isolated. The latter has been correlated with bauerene and identified as 3α-hydroxybauer-7-en-28-oic acid. From the timber extractives myrtifolic acid, oleanolic acid, and jacareubin have been obtained.

TL;DR: In this paper, a triterpene lactone, alnuselide, was isolated from the male flowers of Alnus serrulatoides Call (Betulaceae).
Abstract: A novel C31-3,4-secodammarane-type triterpene lactone, alnuselide, was isolated from the male flowers of Alnus serrulatoides Call. (Betulaceae). The structure of alnuselide was elucidated to be (11R,20S,24R)-20,24-epoxy-24-methyl-3,4-secodammar-4(28)-en-3,11-carbolactone (I) by a combination of the chemical and spectroscopic methods and the synthesis.

TL;DR: In this article, the triterpenes oleanolic acid and methyl machaerinate and the common plant sterol, beta-sitosterol, were identified, and two other isolated compounds, named epithelanthic acid (EHA) and methyl epithelantha (MHE) were postulated to be new delta9(11)-12-oxooleanenes, and another trace compound was incompletely categorized as a triterpene lactone.
Abstract: Ethanolic extracts of the title plant were toxic to mice. Acid hydrolysis of the toxic extracts permitted the isolation of six crystalline compounds. The known triterpenes oleanolic acid and methyl machaerinate and the common plant sterol, beta-sitosterol, were identified. The structures of two other isolated compounds, named epithelanthic acid and methyl epithelanthate, were postulated to be new delta9(11)-12-oxooleanenes, and another trace compound was incompletely categorized as a triterpene lactone.

TL;DR: In this paper, several pentacyclic triterpenoids were shown to inhibit protein biosynthesis in the cells of rat marrow The magnitude of the effect depends on the chemical structure of the triterpene glycosides.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: Corrected structural formulas of acanthophyllosides B and C have been put forward and the hypothesis has been expressed that D-quinovose is present in a number of glycosides isolated from plants of the family Caryophyllaceae.
Abstract: It has been established that the carbohydrate moiety of acanthophyllosides B and C contain D-quinovose. Corrected structural formulas of acanthophyllosides B and C have been put forward. The hypothesis has been expressed that D-quinovose is present in a number of glycosides isolated from plants of the family Caryophyllaceae.

TL;DR: Arjungenin, a triterpene isolated from Terminalia arjuna, was shown to be 2α,3β,19α,23-tetrahydroxyolean-12-en-28-oic acid as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: Arjungenin, a new triterpene isolated from Terminalia arjuna, is shown to be 2α,3β,19α,23-tetrahydroxyolean-12-en-28-oic acid (1). The structures of two new triterpene glucosides, arjunglucoside I and arjunglucoside II, isolated from the same plant, were determined to be β-D-glucopyranosyl 2α,3β,19α,23-tetrahydroxyolean-12-en-28-oate (2) and β-D-glucopyranosyl arjunolate (3), respectively.
