TL;DR: Six additional compounds having no cytotoxic activity were isolated and a new triterpene, 3-O-trans-p-coumaroyltormentic acid, was established on the basis of X-nucleus-proton correlation with fixed evolution time (XCORFE) and other spectroscopic evidence.
Abstract: Bioactivity-guided fractionation of the methanol extract of Goreishi (the feces of Trogopterus xanthipes Milne-Edwards) afforded one new and three known cytotoxic triterpenes, namely, 3-O-cis-p-coumaroyltormentic acid, pomolic acid, 2 alpha-hydroxyursolic acid, and jacoumaric acid. In the course of this investigation, six additional compounds having no cytotoxic activity were isolated, namely, maslinic acid, 3-O-trans-p-coumaroylmaslinic acid, ursolic acid, tormentic acid, euscaphic acid, and a new triterpene, 3-O-trans-p-coumaroyltormentic acid. The structures of the new compounds were established on the basis of X-nucleus-proton correlation with fixed evolution time (XCORFE) and other spectroscopic evidence.

Abstract: TWO new pentacyclic triterpenes, kanerin 111 and 12,13-dihydroursolic acid (5) have been isolated from the fresh, uncrushed, winter leaves ofNm'um oleander, and their structures have been established as 24-nor-3p, 5-dihydroxyursa-4(23), 18-dien-28-oic acid and 3P-hydroxyuaa-28-oic acid, respectively, through chemical and spectral studies. Nerium oleander L. (syn. Nerium ohrum, Apocynaceae), commonly known as "kaner, " is distributed in the Mediterranean region and subtropical Asia and is indigen- ous to the Indo-Pakistan subcontinent. Its various parts are reputed to be therapeutic in the treatment of swellings, leprosy, and eye and skin diseases. The leaves also possess cardiotonic and antibacterial properties (1,2). Studies on the chemical constituents of different parts of the plant have led to the isolation of several cardiac glycosides and triterpenoids (3,4). In the course of studies on the constituents of the fresh leaves ofN. oleander, two new cardiac glycosides and several triterpenes (5,6) have recently been re- ported. The present paper deals with the isolation and structure elucidation of two new,
