TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe a navigation system and methods for users having different physical classifications, and an example method of navigating a user to a destination based on a selected physical classification includes identifying, based on user selection, the physical classification associated with the user and the destination and determining a route to the destination.
Abstract: Navigation systems and methods for users having different physical classifications are described. An example method of navigating a user to a destination based on a selected physical classification includes identifying, based on user selection, the physical classification associated with the user and the destination and determining a route to the destination to accommodate the selected physical classification. Additionally, the example method includes conveying the route to the user and alerting the user of one or more items of interest associated with the selected physical classification and the determined route.

TL;DR: In this article, a collaborative GPS navigation system and method enables nearby vehicles to share and compare planned route for improving navigation, where a navigation device on a first vehicle may detect a specific, slower-moving second vehicle.
Abstract: A collaborative GPS navigation system and method enables nearby vehicles to share and compare planned route for improving navigation. While navigating along a planned route, a navigation device on a first vehicle may detect a specific, slower-moving second vehicle. The navigation device on the first vehicle may obtain the planned route of the second vehicle, compare the two planned routes to identify a shared route segment, and dynamically revise the planned route and route metrics according to the comparison.

TL;DR: In this paper, a system and method for determining and displaying a navigation route on a navigation device from one vehicle position to a travel destination is presented, where the navigation device can include processor with RAM, a mass storage device for holding a database with geographic data, as well as a display.
Abstract: A system and method for determining and displaying a navigation route on a navigation device from one vehicle position to a travel destination. The navigation device can include processor with RAM, a mass storage device for holding a database with geographic data, as well as a display. Embodiments of the invention can provide a high level of correlation between the actual situation on the road as seen by the user and the corresponding navigation maneuver displayed on the screen. The graphic output of navigation devices for complex intersections can also be improved regardless of whether the navigation device is a high-performance or very simple device.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a notification unit for a route searching unit that cannot carry out route searching for an area in the vicinity of a destination when a physical quantity associated with a relationship between the current position of a vehicle determined by a current position determination unit and the destination is less than a preset reference value.
Abstract: A navigation apparatus includes a notification unit for, in a case where a route searching unit cannot carry out route searching for an area in the vicinity of a destination, notifying users that the route searching unit cannot carry out route searching for the area in the vicinity of the destination when a physical quantity associated with a relationship between the current position of a vehicle determined by a current position determination unit and the destination is less than a preset reference value.

TL;DR: In this article, a first set of visual indicators are layered over a portion of the portion of data displayed on the electronic display, which selection signal is received by the navigation application.
Abstract: Navigating display data (e.g., large documents) on an electronic display is described in which a first set of visual indicators are layered over the portion of the portion of data displayed on the electronic display. The user selects a particular navigation task, which selection signal is received by the navigation application. The navigation application determines a section of interest based on the particular navigation task selected and layers a second set of visual indicators over the portion of the display data defined by all of the sections other than the section of interest. The navigation application then animates movement of the display data and both sets of visual indicators on the electronic display according to the particular navigation task selected.
