TL;DR: A qualitative interview study is presented to explore the end-users preferences for 3D mobile interactive navigation system, so as to determine design preferences of the application.
Abstract: The main aim of 3D mobile interactive navigation support is to offer end-users easier means of accomplishing basic and complex navigation tasks in a user friendly way. Unfortunately, not until the end-users make use of the end-product or prototype, their needs, preferences, and their true understanding will not be acknowledged. As a result of these considerations, this paper presents a qualitative interview study to explore the end-users preferences for 3D mobile interactive navigation system, so as to determine design preferences of the application. The study uses a prototype of the design and conducted photo-diary method interviews, where the prototype visual representations is presented to the prospective end-user in support of an interview, which makes the interview more concrete. The result of the study provided clues about the features that were not foreseen in the earlier design process, the features that need to be upgrade and the features that end-users value most.

TL;DR: A navigation device comprises an itinerary preparation and management system as mentioned in this paper, which includes a memory for storing itinerary data including data representative of a destination and a time constraint, such as a deadline, earliest time, or range of times during which the user wants to arrive at the destination.
Abstract: A navigation device comprises an itinerary preparation and management system. The device includes a memory for storing itinerary data including data representative of a destination and a time constraint, such as a deadline, earliest time, or range of times during which the user wants to arrive at the destination. The navigation device also includes a display for displaying the itinerary, a position detection system for detecting positional information associated with the navigation device, and a processor programmable to correlate the positional information with the itinerary data and detect an inability to satisfy the time constraint. The navigation device has access to alternative destinations and is able to determine whether one of the alternative destinations will satisfy the time constraint. If so, the navigation device provides the user with an opportunity to replace the destination with the alternative destination.

TL;DR: A very efficient system which uses the GPS and earth maps to help the driver in navigation by robust display of the current position of the vehicle on a displayed map is proposed.
Abstract: Vehicle navigation is one of the most important applications in the era of navigation which is mostly used by drivers. Therefore the efficiency of the maps given to the drivers has a great importance in the navigation system. In this paper we proposed a very efficient system which uses the GPS and earth maps to help the driver in navigation by robust display of the current position of the vehicle on a displayed map. The main aim of this project is designing a system which is capable of continuous monitoring of path of the vehicle on PC with Google Earth Application. Here the important issue is displaying the map on several various scales which are adopted by the users. The heart elements in the implementation of this project are GPS, GSM and MCU. The GPS-GSM integrated structure is designed to track the vehicles by using Google earth application. The micro controller is used to receive data from GPS and to transfer the latitude and longitude to the PC to map by using the VB.Net language and this map is generated using Google Earth information.

TL;DR: In this article, a navigation system that finds routes and provides navigation extending across countries or regions, navigation is performed for cases in which languages differ in the countries and regions being navigated.
Abstract: In a navigation system that finds routes and provides navigation extending across countries or regions, navigation is performed for cases in which languages differ in the countries or regions being navigated. The navigation system is equipped with first and second route search servers (30A, 30B), which use first and second areas as service areas, respectively, and a terminal device (20). When the terminal device (20) requests a route search, the system determines the second route search server (30B) with the first route search server (30A) to find and link the routes in the respective areas and to determine a recommended route. If the language used by the route search server is different from the language used by the terminal device (20), the route search server translates words other than key words, such as proper nouns, in the navigation information, which gives the recommended route, into the language used by the terminal device (20) and supplies the translation to the terminal device (20).

TL;DR: In this article, a method for automatically entering favorite locations into a navigation system is provided, which includes receiving information regarding a location from an object within a vehicle using a navigation systems.
Abstract: According to one embodiment of the present invention, a method for automatically entering favorite locations into a navigation system is provided. The method according to one embodiment includes receiving information regarding a location from an object within a vehicle using a navigation system. An identifier to the information and the information and identifier are stored in the navigation system. The user may retrieve the information from the navigation system using the identifier. The information from the objects may be received in various wireless formats, including RFID, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
