TL;DR: In this paper, an on-vehicle navigation apparatus in which destination coordinate data stored in a memory is erased when the distance from the present location to a destination is equal to or smaller than a predetermined value at the time the engine of a vehicle is started.
Abstract: An on-vehicle navigation apparatus in which destination coordinate data stored in a memory is erased when the distance from the present location to a destination is equal to or smaller than a predetermined value at the time the engine of a vehicle is started. The destination coordinate data will not therefore be erased while the vehicle is actually running toward the destination. The arrangement prevents display of navigation information such as the direction and distance from being stopped before the vehicle arrives at the destination.

Abstract: Provided is a navigation system with a function of destination search using a synchronization service of a home telematics system. The navigation system includes: a map database for storing map data; a GPS (global positioning system) module for receiving each position signal from a plurality of GPS satellites, and calculating a self position; a wireless communication unit for performing a data communication with the computer; and a telematics controller for searching synchronization data stored in a computer for synchronization data having the key word, setting the searched synchronization data as the destination, searching for a path from the calculated current position to the destination, mapping the searched path to the map data, and performing a function of navigation.

TL;DR: The indoor navigation framework based on the Bluetooth beacons is proposed, which allows user to obtain the position in GPS denied environment on a real-time basis.
Abstract: Real-time user positioning and navigation services are widely used daily by millions of people. The challenge is that common global positioning systems fail in indoor environment or in scenes with a limited sky view. In the paper, the indoor navigation framework based on the Bluetooth beacons is proposed. Such system allows user to obtain the position in GPS denied environment on a real-time basis. Key steps for precise localizing and main components of the developed framework are considered. Initial experimental results are provided.

TL;DR: A novel method that estimates camera parameters of single input image using SIFT features and voting scheme is proposed that is applied to the current mobile devices because they are designed to treat video sequence where temporal information like camera parameter of the previous frame is known.
Abstract: Several human navigation services are currently available on the cellular phones that uses embedded GPS and 2-D map. However, 2-D map based human navigation is not always easy to understand for users because that is not intuitive. In order to realize more intuitive human navigation, AR (augmented reality) based navigation where guiding information is overlaid in the real image is expected to be the next generation navigation system. For AR navigation, the key problem is how to acquire the accurate position and posture of the embedded camera on the cellular phone. Many researchers have intensively tackled to the camera parameter estimation problem for AR in recent years. However, most of these methods cannot be applied to the current mobile devices because they are designed to treat video sequence where temporal information like camera parameter of the previous frame is known. In this research, we propose a novel method that estimates camera parameters of single input image using SIFT features and voting scheme.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors propose a simple operation to enable the research for the route to the desired destination to be performed, and to permit the guidance of the vehicle to the newly set destination.
Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To permit the setting of arbitrary point, as a new destination, in a navigation device in which the destination is set, by a simple operation so that the research for the route to the desired destination can be performed, and to permit the guidance of the route to the newly set destination. SOLUTION: After the arrival at the set destination and the completion of the guidance of the route, when the position of the vehicle of one's own is apart from the guided destination by a prescribed distance or more, an inquiry about the re-search is performed, in which notification about the choices for the new destination are performed. When an optional choice is selected by a user, the selected choice is set as the new destination, and the re-search for the route is performed. The guidance of the route is performed on the basis of the re-searched route. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
