26 Oct 1997TL;DR: This paper introduces the technique of motion-compensated vertical filters within pairs of fields to solve the problem of sampling rate conversion between interlaced and progressive raster.
Abstract: The standard format for video acquisition, transmission and presentation uses an interlaced scanning technique. On the other hand for digital video services, the progressive format is more desirable in many situations, and different resolutions of the signal are required. The interlaced scan is based on a tight concatenation of vertical and temporal sampling effects. This paper introduces the technique of motion-compensated vertical filters within pairs of fields to solve the problem of sampling rate conversion between interlaced and progressive raster. It is shown that the motion-compensated vertical filter is a polyphase realization of a factor-2 up- or downsampling filterbank, with polyphase shift controlled by motion parameters. Possible applications are down- and up-conversion between progressive and interlaced formats, and multiresolution representation of video data within a spatio-temporal subband or wavelet framework.

TL;DR: Flexible-PU as discussed by the authors proposes an end-to-end learning-based framework to generate dense point clouds from given sparse point clouds to model the underlying geometric structures of objects/scenes.
Abstract: This paper addresses the problem of generating dense point clouds from given sparse point clouds to model the underlying geometric structures of objects/scenes. To tackle this challenging issue, we propose a novel end-to-end learning-based framework. Specifically, by taking advantage of the linear approximation theorem, we first formulate the problem explicitly, which boils down to determining the interpolation weights and high-order approximation errors. Then, we design a lightweight neural network to adaptively learn unified and sorted interpolation weights as well as the high-order refinements, by analyzing the local geometry of the input point cloud. The proposed method can be interpreted by the explicit formulation, and thus is more memory-efficient than existing ones. In sharp contrast to the existing methods that work only for a pre-defined and fixed upsampling factor, the proposed framework only requires a single neural network with one-time training to handle various upsampling factors within a typical range, which is highly desired in real-world applications. In addition, we propose a simple yet effective training strategy to drive such a flexible ability. In addition, our method can handle non-uniformly distributed and noisy data well. Extensive experiments on both synthetic and real-world data demonstrate the superiority of the proposed method over state-of-the-art methods both quantitatively and qualitatively. The code will be publicly available at https://github.com/ninaqy/Flexible-PU .

TL;DR: In this article, a convolutional neural network image super-resolution reconstruction method based on learning rate self-adaptation is proposed. But the method is limited to low-resolution images.
Abstract: The invention discloses a convolutional neural network image super-resolution rebuilding method based on learning rate self adaption. The method comprises the following steps of S1, performing fuzzy and downsampling on images in a high-resolution training image set to obtain a corresponding low-resolution training image set; S2, performing bi-cubic interpolation amplification on low-resolution images; S3, inputting the low-resolution images processed by the step S2 into the trained learning rate self adaption a convolutional neural network to obtain rebuilding high-resolution images. By using the technical scheme provided by the invention, the excellent super-resolution rebuilding performance is realized.

TL;DR: In this article, a pseudorandom code is applied to the upsampled OFDM signal to produce a coded OFDM symbol, which is then upconverted to a radio frequency signal.
Abstract: Multiple subbands of a transmission band are continuously occupied by an OFDM signal that would otherwise occupy only a single subband. Steps may include producing an OFDM symbol (309); transforming the OFDM symbol to produce an OFDM signal (311); upsampling the OFDM signal to produce an upsampled OFDM signal (321); applying a pseudorandom code (323) to the upsampled OFDM signal to produce a coded OFDM signal; and upconverting (317) the coded OFDM signal to produce a radio frequency signal. Alternatively, steps may include upconverting the OFDM signal to produce a radio frequency signal; wherein the radio frequency signal occupies multiple ones of the following subbands: about 3200MHz to about 3700MHz; about 3700MHz to about 4200MHz; and about 4200MHz to about 4800MHz. In another embodiment, steps may include producing a sequence of N consecutive identical OFDM symbols.
