TL;DR: In this article, a system for tracking client contacts for a host organization utilizes a multimedia database and a user interface at a connected computer device, which stores client communications as full content, and relates contacts by issue, and displays client contact communications as objects, such as icons, in issue related chronological strings.
Abstract: A system for tracking client contacts for a host organization utilizes a multimedia database and a user interface at a connected computer device. The database stores client communications as full content, and relates contacts by issue, and the user interface displays client contact communications as objects, such as icons, in issue related chronological strings. In a preferred embodiment the interface also provides an input facility for a host agent to select appropriate responses to client communications, to make commitments for response, to assign responsibility for commitments, and to notify personnel effected by entered commitments in various ways, such as reminders. Other notifications include fulfilled and unfulfilled commitments.

TL;DR: A four- phase framework for user-interface design provides common structure and terminology for searching while preserving the distinct features of individual collections and search mechanisms, leading to more effective searches and higher satisfaction.
Abstract: Current user interfaces for textual database searching leave much to be desired: individually, they are often confusing, and as a group, they are seriously inconsistent. We propose a four- phase framework for user-interface design: the framework provides common structure and terminology for searching while preserving the distinct features of individual collections and search mechanisms. Users will benefit from faster learning, increased comprehension, and better control, leading to more effective searches and higher satisfaction.

TL;DR: Magitti is unique in that it infers user activity from context and patterns of user behavior and, without its user having to issue a query, automatically generates recommendations for content matching.
Abstract: This paper presents a context-aware mobile recommender system, codenamed Magitti. Magitti is unique in that it infers user activity from context and patterns of user behavior and, without its user having to issue a query, automatically generates recommendations for content matching. Extensive field studies of leisure time practices in an urban setting (Tokyo) motivated the idea, shaped the details of its design and provided data describing typical behavior patterns. The paper describes the fieldwork, user interface, system components and functionality, and an evaluation of the Magitti prototype.

TL;DR: In this paper, a proactive interface management system for ascertaining a computer user's goals and automatically extracting untagged data from one or more source objects and applying the data to target objects is presented.
Abstract: A proactive interface management system for ascertaining a computer user's goals and automatically extracting untagged data from one or more source objects and applying the data to one or more target objects. The proactive interface management system includes several cooperating program elements including a user interface, a decision engine, an extractor, and an applicator. These cooperating program elements automatically perform the steps of recognizing user gestures, ascertaining user goals, identifying relevant source information in one or more source objects, extracting the relevant source information, and applying the extracted information to one or more target objects.
