TL;DR: In this paper, the authors propose a method and apparatus for storing and retrieving images of documents, e.g. checks, which includes placing a plurality of documents in a document imaging machine and forming an electronic image of each document, storing each electronic image in an electronic storage device, providing at least one user interface device in communication on a communication link with the electronic storage devices, placing a request for at least 1 document image on the user interface devices, transmitting the request by the communication link to the ESS device, retrieving the requested electronic image or providing an indication that the image
Abstract: A method and apparatus for storing and retrieving images of documents, e.g. checks. The method comprises placing a plurality of documents in a document imaging machine and forming an electronic image of each document, storing each electronic image in an electronic storage device, providing at least one user interface device in communication on a communication link with the electronic storage device, placing a request for at least one document image on the user interface device, transmitting the request by the communication link to the electronic storage device, searching the electronic storage device for the requested electronic image of the document, retrieving the at least one electronic image or providing an indication that the image was not found, storing the electronic image, if found, in an electronic file, for transmission to the user interface device at user option, providing the electronic image to the user interface device at command of a user at the user interface device for storage at the user interface device and displaying the requested electronic image on a display of the user interface device. Preferably, the electronic, images are stored with embedded identifying information in a TIFF® (trademark of Aldus Corp.) file format and the check images can be displayed on a display device which permits the user to view both sides of the checks simultaneously and perform functions such as zooming and rotation of the images.

TL;DR: This practical guide to successful Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) experiments, uses the general-purpose software platform BCI2000 and provides comprehensive introductory and intermediate concepts of all relevant aspects pertaining to common BCI experiments.
Abstract: This practical guide to successful Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) experiments, uses the general-purpose software platform BCI2000. It provides comprehensive introductory and intermediate concepts of all relevant aspects pertaining to common BCI experiments. Opening with a general introduction to the principles of BCI operation, brain signal acquisition using different types of sensors, BCI signal processing (including common feature extraction and feature translation methods), and device output, this general introduction to BCI research is followed by an introduction to the BCI2000 software platform, including a step-by step tour and step-by-step tutorials for using BCI2000 with sensorimotor rhythms and P300 evoked potentials. Advanced concepts are discussed and a programming reference and exercises included. There is a section for frequently asked questions and technical references.

TL;DR: A complete environment based on conceptual modeling of user interfaces of information systems structured around three axes is presented: the models that characterize a user interface from the end user's viewpoint and the specification language that allows designers to specify such interfaces, and a suite of tools that support designers in applying the method based on the models.
Abstract: To cope with the ever increasing diversity of markup languages, programming languages, tool kits and interface development environments, conceptual modeling of user interfaces could bring a framework for specifying, designing, and developing user interfaces at a level of abstraction that is higher than the level where code is merely manipulated. For this purpose, a complete environment is presented based on conceptual modeling of user interfaces of information systems structured around three axes: the models that characterize a user interface from the end user's viewpoint and the specification language that allows designers to specify such interfaces, the method for developing interfaces in forward, reverse, and lateral engineering based on these models, and a suite of tools that support designers in applying the method based on the models. This environment is compatible with the Model-Driven Architecture recommendations in the sense that all models adhere to the principle of separation of concerns and are based on model transformation between the MDA levels. The models and the transformations of these models are all expressed in UsiXML (User Interface eXtensible Markup Language) and maintained in a model repository that can be accessed by the suite of tools. Thanks to this environment, it is possible to quickly develop and deploy a wide array of user interfaces for different computing platforms, for different interaction modalities, for different markup and programming languages, and for various contexts of use.

TL;DR: In this paper, the cache coherence problem is examined, and solutions are described for both throughput-oriented and speedup-oriented multiprocessor systems, either at the user level or the operating-system level.
Abstract: The problems addressed apply to both throughput-oriented and speedup-oriented multiprocessor systems, either at the user level or the operating-system level. basic definitions are provided. Communication and synchronization are briefly explained, and hardware-level and software-level synchronization mechanisms are discussed. The cache coherence problem is examined, and solutions are described. Strong and weak ordering of events is considered. The user interface is discussed. >
