Abstract: Disclosed are systems, methods and computer program products for dynamically allocating computing resources for processing security information. In one example, the system receives from an antivirus application deployed on a user's computer information about user's actions related to the security of said computer. The system analyzes the received information to determine user's level of expertise in the field of computer security. The system then classifies the user into one of two or more different roles based on the determined level of expertise. The system automatically selects, based on the user's role, configuration setting of the antivirus application for collecting information about security threats detected by the user. The system also automatically allocates and configures, based on the user's role, computing resources and services for processing information collected by the antivirus application deployed on the user's computer about security threats detected by the user.

Abstract: Over the last 100 years it has become much easier to operate a car. However in recent years the number of functions a user can control while driving has greatly increased. Infotainment, entertainment and comfort systems as well as driver assistance contribute to this trend. Interaction with these systems plays an important role, as on one hand this can improve the user experience while driving but on the other hand it may distract from the primary task of driving. User interfaces in cars differ regarding the number of input and output devices and their placement in the car to a great extent. In this paper, we introduce a first design space for driver-based automotive user interfaces that allows a comprehensive description of input and output devices in a car with regard to placement and modality. This design space is intended to provide a basis for analyzing and discussing different user interface arrangements in cars, to compare alternative user interface setups, and to identify new opportunities for interaction and placement of controls. We present a graphical representation of the design space and discuss its usage in detail based on several examples. To assess the completeness of the proposed design space we used it to classify and compare user interfaces from more than 100 cars shown at IAA2007, cars from the BMW museum, and from the A2Mac1 image database.

Abstract: This chapter presents the recommendation techniques applied in Personal Program Guide (PPG). This is a system generating personalized Electronic Program Guides for Digital TV. The PPG manages a user model that stores the estimates of the individual user’s preferences for TV program categories. This model results from the integration of different preference acquisition modules that handle explicit user preferences, stereotypical information about TV viewers, and information about the user’s viewing behavior. The observation of the individual viewing behavior is particularly easy because the PPG runs on the set-top box and is deeply integrated with the TV playing and the video recording services offered by that type of device.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a financial management system for providing personalized financial advice to a user (110). The system operates in a collaborative computing environment between the user and a financial advisor (106) and comprises a service level subsystem and an advice generating subsystem (102). The service level subsystem allows the user to negotiate a service level agreement that defines the user's desired level of support and limits access to user provided information. The advice generating subsystem is coupled to the service level subsystem and includes one or more coaching engines that dynamically analyze the financial needs of the user in accordance with the user's service level agreement. Furthermore, the coaching engine provides customized financial advice tailored to the user's life intentions.
