TL;DR: Zhang et al. as discussed by the authors put forward the concept of environmental value and the theoretical methods and models of urban residential environmental value evaluation to evaluate sustainable development of residential and has a great significance in promoting the construction and development of ecological residential in China.
Abstract: As one of the most important consumption goods, housing has a close relationship with human. The quality of residential environment affects everyone’s living condition directly. However, there are many environmental problems during the whole life of urban residential construction. For example, there can be lots of pollution and consumption on air, water and energy in the process of urban residential planning, designing and destroying. Therefore, the government, public, experts and scholars are paying more and more attention to residential environmental problems, which have already become the focus of society. Under the background of the whole life cycle, this article, based on the value engineering theory, puts forward the concept of environmental value and the theoretical methods and models of urban residential environmental value evaluation. The method provides a useful tool for evaluating sustainable development of residential and has a great significance in promoting the construction and development of ecological residential in China.

TL;DR: The Value Engineering (VE) Methodology is an effective tool for business or strategic planning as discussed by the authors, and the Balanced Scorecard approach (formally developed by Robert Kaplan, PhD, and David Norton, PhD) is highlighted here using VE and function analysis to develop strategy maps and scorecards.
Abstract: The Value Engineering (VE) Methodology is an effective tool for business or strategic planning. While there are many viable strategic planning processes, the “Balanced Scorecard” approach (formally developed by Robert Kaplan, PhD, and David Norton, PhD), is highlighted here using VE and function analysis to develop strategy maps and scorecards. As part of the VE Methodology, Functional Analysis System Technique (FAST) diagramming offers an integrated approach and structure to strategy map development by formulating a cause and effect relationship and establishing the “how” and “why” behind the strategy map. By holistically utilizing the VE Job Plan, one is able to move from strategic thinking all the way through to measurement and execution of a strategy.

TL;DR: The study reveals that the running of current construction enterprise structure is a real block for the evolution of the value innovation of China construction enterprises according to the stimulation value in the different hierarchical choices for the construction enterprise distributions.
Abstract: One of the main problems in the enterprise structure is the actual disorder of the three hierarchical schemes for the enterprise management China construction industry, which brings the stochastic risk of enterprise structure for the value innovation of China construction corporations. The principal reason is that corporation are being involved in a low-interest and severe circle competition, due to the quality management which the authority wants to use to restructure the construction industry. However, there is not the relatively recent definition of this type of risk, especially for the value innovation in China construction industry. Considering this drawback, the employment of Markov methods and simulation tools could be a natural solution to the problem. The use of Markov methods allows us to estimate the parameters about mutual transition for the value innovation of construction enterprises, and calculate the stochastic risk for the total construction enterprises in the freedom market. Besides, an original proposal is a Markov approach for modeling the stochastic risk in the China construction enterprise structure and for the computation of the type of risk to cover the three hierarchical schemes. Besides this methodological innovation a positive research, based on Markov chain, is required. In particular, the study reveals that the running of current construction enterprise structure is a real block for the evolution of the value innovation of China construction enterprises according to the stimulation value in the different hierarchical choices for the construction enterprise distributions.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present how project management, value engineering and lean product development define value and highlight the consequences of these different understandings and stress that the goal is to understand the value pulled by all stakeholders in the value chain.
Abstract: The term value is rather ambiguous, even in the product development field. This chapter presents how project management, value engineering and lean product development define value and highlights the consequences of these different understandings. We stress that, in lean product design and development, the goal is to understand the value pulled by all stakeholders in the value chain. Although fulfilling the needs from the external stakeholders (user, customer, shareholder/sponsor, etc.) have more impact in product success (do the right product), fulfilling the internal stakeholders’ needs (suppliers, design and development team, production, development partners etc.) guarantee a smoother PDP execution (do the product right). Considering the lean two pillars, we address the jidoka by understanding the value pulled by the external stakeholders, while the just-in-time refers to the internal stakeholders’ needs.
