Abstract: The essence of value engineering technique involves the critical analysis of the functions of a product/process over all of its stages and producing a creative and innovative way to achieve the function at the lowest cost. Value added management practice (VAMP) is a very efficient technique to identify and remove/improve unnecessary and inefficient processes in order to optimize both time and cost of production stages. The aim of the present paper is to develop a model to improve the admission process in hospitals using the steps of value-added management practice and its concepts. The KIMS Hospital in Bangalore (Karnataka, India) was selected to perform the case study. A Value engineering team was formed with medical professionals and the current admission process of a hospital was studied in detail and all the involved processes were drawn as a model using Lucid Chart software. A brainstorming session was conducted to identify the unnecessary and inefficient processes and to formulate creative and innovative ideas to remove/improve those processes. Simulation technique was used to record the performance of the current admission process and the improved admission process. Comparing the results, it was revealed that about 40 minutes will be saved if innovative and creative ideas are applied on the current admission procedure. Thus, it is concluded that value added management practice is an efficient method to improve the performance of services in the healthcare system.

Abstract: In this research we try to propose a new method for rock slopes stabilization and underground structures support of a real project that uses mesh reinforced shotcrete to improve value index of it. For this we applied value engineering technique on a real project of IRAN (EZGELEH dam) to help us use specific and accurate data. Also we used a laboratory research in same field to evaluate effect of project on quality and efficiency of final result. At the end we constructed a part of tunnel by suggested method of value engineering and similar part by old method to compare these methods together based on time, cost and quality. Final result of research has three major parts that has been reached by studying on major parameters of project (time, cost, quality). Final result has been presented by specific data and statistics. The results of our investigation show that using polypropylene fiber reinforced shotcrete instead of mesh reinforced shotcrete for rock slopes stabilization and underground structures support upgrade value index of this project significantly. Also it can be used in similar development projects.

Abstract: This paper attempts to provide a methodology for selecting the product to which to apply Value Engineering (VE). It briefly summarizes existing VE methodology and points up the deficiencies. The technique is a sensitivity analysis of diagrams of networks which indicate the cost interdependencies of the product. By determining the areas with the highest cost reduction potential, VE efforts can be concentrated on these. Thus, VE can be made more cost-effective.
