TL;DR: In this paper, the existence of a charge transfer complex between the comonomers has been shown and its equilibrium constant determined, starting from a study of the copolymerization rate when varying the solvent, the temperature, and the concentration of comonomer.
Abstract: Vinyl acetate and maleic anhydride are known to give 1:1 alternating copolymerization regardless of the monomer feed composition. The existence of a charge transfer complex between the comonomers has been shown and its equilibrium constant determined. The mechanism has been discussed, starting from a study of the copolymerization rate when varying the solvent, the temperature, and the concentration of comonomers.

TL;DR: In this article, a novel natural deep eutectic solvent (NADES) was prepared by the endothermic complexation of choline chloride and orcinol at room temperature.
Abstract: A novel natural deep eutectic solvent (NADES) was prepared by the endothermic complexation of choline chloride (hydrogen bond acceptor) and orcinol (hydrogen bond donor) at room temperature. Among N-isopropyl acrylamide (NIPAM), vinyl acetate (VA) and 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA), only HEMA was found to self-polymerized in the above NADES at room temperature at optimized concentrations, resulting in the formation of a highly stretchable gel (>30 times). Polymerization of HEMA in the DES was established and rheological investigations revealed the highly stretchable behaviour of the gels. The gels obtained with HEMA in the ratio of 0.35, 0.5 and 1% v/v with respect to the NADES demonstrated good capacitive behaviour with metal oxide frame works (>200 F g−1).

TL;DR: In this article, an acrylamide (AAm) modified polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) with enhanced water solubility and tunable tacticity and crystallinity was prepared by alcoholysis of vinyl acetate (VAc), copolymers, and the chemical structures and performance of VAc-AAm and AAm-modified PVA were measured by FTIR, UV-vis, XRD, elemental analysis as well as rheometry.
Abstract: Acrylamide (AAm) modified polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) with enhanced water solubility and tunable tacticity and crystallinity was prepared by alcoholysis of vinyl acetate (VAc) and acrylamide copolymers. The chemical structures and performance of VAc–AAm copolymers and AAm-modified PVA were measured by FTIR, UV-vis, XRD, elemental analysis as well as rheometry. FTIR and XRD analysis reveals that AAm units in PVA chain can reduce the stereoregularity effectively, and suppress the crystallinity. And a decreasing linear relationship between crystallinity and AAm mole fractions is observed. Furthermore, the influence of AAm modification on the water solubility of PVA was studied, and a significant enhancement either at low temperature (30 °C) or at high temperature (70 °C) was achieved through AAm modification. Moreover, the rheological investigation suggested that the relative strength of the hydrogen bonding interactions existing between PVA chains was weakened, while those between PVA chains and water molecules, to some extent, were enhanced after AAm modification. The method presented is an easy but promising way to prepare PVA that can have good water solubility even at low temperature while exhibiting high degrees of alcoholysis.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a composition for treating seeds comprising an aqueous emulsion of a substantially water-soluble neutralized copolymer of an Alpha, Beta -unsaturated monocarboxylic acid and a lower alkyl acrylate.
Abstract: Composition for treating seeds comprising an aqueous emulsion of a substantially water-soluble neutralized copolymer of an Alpha , Beta -unsaturated monocarboxylic acid and a lower alkyl acrylate and a crosslinked copolymer of vinyl acetate and a lower alkyl acrylate. These compositions enhance the germination of the seeds.
