TL;DR: In this article, the outer semiconducting layer of polyethylene-insulated cables is formed by graft processing of 100 parts of an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer of a vinyl acetate content of less than 35 percent.
Abstract: A semiconducting resin composition comprises: (A) 100 to 40 parts of a modified ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer prepared by graft processing of 100 parts of an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer of a vinyl acetate content of less than 35 percent with 25 to 200 parts of an aromatic vinyl monomer; (B) 0 to 60 parts of a rubber; and (C) 3 to 150 parts of a carbon black with respect to 100 parts of the above described components (A) and (B), all quantities in "parts" and "percent" being by weight. A composition of this character has excellent characteristics for its use in forming the outer semiconducting layer of polyethylene-insulated cables.

TL;DR: In this paper, the incorporation of vinyl acetate in CPEA was analyzed using FTIR, 1 H NMR and 13 C NMR spectral techniques, and the physico-chemical properties such as iodine value, specific gravity and refractive index were determined by standard laboratory test methods.

TL;DR: In this paper, saturation adsorption and penetration-type saturation-type adaption of several anionic surfactants at model poly(vinyl acetate-;acrylate) latex/water interfaces is described.
Abstract: Saturation adsorption and penetration adsorption of several anionic surfactants at model poly(vinyl acetate–;acrylate) latex/water interfaces are described The effects of molecular weight and structure of anionic surfactants, latex composition, and the presence of adsorbed layers on latex particles on penetration type surfactant interactions leading to the formation of solubilized polymer–surfactant complex and latex thickening are considered In the case of saturation-type adsorption of nonionic surfactants, surfactant adsorption at a vinyl acrylic latex/water interface is correlated satisfactorily with the polarity of polymer surface, in agreement with earlier surfactant adsorption studies

TL;DR: In this paper, polyvinyl acetate (PVAc)/silicate nanocomposites have been prepared using a novel surfactant-free method comprising a copolymer of 2-(acryloxyethyl)trimethylammonium chloride (AETMC) and vinyl acetate as the modifier for layered silicates.
Abstract: Poly(vinyl acetate) (PVAc)/silicate nanocomposites have been prepared using a novel surfactant-free method comprising a copolymer of 2-(acryloxyethyl)trimethylammonium chloride (AETMC) and vinyl acetate (VAc) as the modifier for layered silicates. The nanocomposites maintained the exfoliated morphology even at silicate contents greater than 20 wt % as evidenced by the absence of peaks in the X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns and absence of silicate bundles in the transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images. These high silicate-containing PVAc nanocomposites served as masterbatches for the preparation of ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA)/silicate nanocomposites by solution blending with EVA. A combination of XRD and TEM studies confirmed mostly exfoliated morphology for the final nanocomposites containing varying amounts of silicate. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) in both nitrogen and air revealed that thermal stability of the nanocomposites in air was enhanced. Dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) of the EVA/s...

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of light intensity, feeding ratio of monomer and equivalent of TPO for the polymerization of acrylates (MA, nBA, tBA), acrylamides (DMA, AMO), and vinyl acetate (VAc) at ambient temperature mediated by TPO was described.
Abstract: Visible-light-induced living radical polymerization of acrylates (MA, nBA, tBA), acrylamides (DMA, AMO), and vinyl acetate (VAc) at ambient temperature mediated by (salen)Co(II)/TPO was described. Effects of light intensity, feeding ratio of monomer and equivalent of TPO for the polymerization of MA were investigated. Well-defined homopolymers and block polymers with predetermined molecular weight and narrow polydispersity were obtained under mild conditions. The mechanism of the polymerization was proposed based on polymerization behavior and polymer structure analysis. The (salen)Co(II)/TPO system was suitable for both conjugated and unconjugated monomers under mild conditions.
