TL;DR: The results of the computer simulation prove that the injected harmonics are greatly reduced, system efficiency and power factor are improved and fuzzy control applicable for active power filter for three-phase systems, which are comprised of nonlinear loads.
Abstract: Harmonic distortion is a form of electrical noise. It is a superposition of signals, which are of multiples of fundamental frequency. Proliferation of large power electronic systems results in increased harmonic distortion. Harmonic distortion results in reduction of power quality and system stability. This paper presents fuzzy control applicable for active power filter for three-phase systems, which are comprised of nonlinear loads. The active filter is based on a three-phase inverter with six controllable switches. The AC side of the inverter is connected in parallel with the other nonlinear loads through a filter inductance. The DC side of the inverter is connected to a filter capacitor. The Fuzzy Controller (FC) is used to shape the current through the filter inductor such that the line current is in phase with and of the same shape as the input voltage. The results of the computer simulation prove that the injected harmonics are greatly reduced, system efficiency and power factor are improved.

12 Jun 2005TL;DR: In this paper, a hybrid topology based on series and parallel resonators is proposed for a miniaturized and wide band bandpass filter, where series resonators are realized using open-ended coupled lines and a parallel resonator is implemented using an openended stub.
Abstract: This paper deals with miniaturized and wide band bandpass filter. This filter is based on an original topology based on series and parallel resonators. Series resonators are realized using open-ended coupled lines and parallel resonator is implemented using an open-ended stub. This hybrid topology based on two kinds of stub leads to a twice more compact 5th order design compared to the conventional 5th order approach. Moreover, the use of resonators presenting different periodic behaviors implies additional transmission zeros and so, enhances the rejection of the filter. Liquid crystal polymer (LCP) is chosen by considering its low cost, good and stable RF performance over the frequency of interest and its ability to act both as a substrate and a package to obtain wide band filter. So, the combined use of this technology and this topology leads to a filter that presents very good electrical performances in a reduced occupied area. A compact wideband filter (2.38-4.2 GHz) with insertion loss of 1.2 dB and rejection has been designed by using a full-wave analysis and measurements are presented.

30 Oct 1989TL;DR: In this article, a general biquadratic filter circuit is described which uses operational transconductance amplifiers and a bias current is used to control the transconductances of the amplifiers which in turn control the corner frequency.
Abstract: A general biquadratic filter circuit is described which uses operational transconductance amplifiers. A bias current controls the transconductance (gm) of the amplifiers which in turn control the corner frequency (Wo) of the circuit. The circuit is configured with three potential sources which can be preselected to either be at a ground level or at a desired voltage level. By preselecting which of the potentials are grounded and which are at a desired voltage level, the circuit can become either a lowpass, highpass, bandpass or notch filter.

04 Oct 1990TL;DR: In this paper, a method of controlling the time constant of a filter for use in a radio receiver which receives a signal, transmitted from a transmitting station at a predetermined period, intermittently at the predetermined period and demodulates and delivers the received signal, is presented.
Abstract: A method of controlling the time constant of a filter for use in a radio receiver which receives a signal, transmitted from a transmitting station at a predetermined period, intermittently at the predetermined period and demodulates and delivers the received signal, a filter circuit having the time constant control function based on the method, and a radio receiver having the filter circuit. Preferably, the filter has its time constant switchable stepwise and specifically, parallel connection of capacitors or shortcircuiting of resistors is controlled by turning on/off switches. A controller within the filter circuit or the radio receiver performs control for applying a predetermined periodical signal (or standard pulse signal) to the filter and controlling the time constant of the filter in accordance with an output signal (or triangular pulse) during a first time zone within each operation interval for the intermittent reception and for filtering the signal from the transmitting station and causing a demodulating circuit to demodulate and deliver a filtered signal.
