Abstract: The present invention discloses a power supply circuit with adaptive input selection and a method for power supply. The power supply circuit includes: a charge pump for receiving at least one voltage and generating a boosted voltage; a first buck switching regulator coupled to a battery, for operating at least one first power transistor to convert a battery voltage to an output voltage according to a first control signal; a second buck switching regulator coupled to the charge pump, for operating at least one second power transistor to convert the boosted voltage to the output voltage according to a second control signal; and a controller generating the first control signal or the second control signal according to a level of the voltage of the battery, to select the first buck switching regulator or the second switching regulator for generating the output voltage.

Abstract: A voltage regulator for regulating the output voltage of a diode-rectified alternating current generator that supplies the electrical loads on a motor vehicle including the storage battery. The voltage regulator has an up-down counter which is incremented when the output voltage of the generator is below a desired regulated value and is decremented when the output voltage of the generator is above the desired regulating value. The magnitude of the count in the counter is repeatedly sampled and used to determine the on time of a semiconductor switch that is connected in series with the field winding to thereby control the duty cycle of the field voltage pulses. The counter is incremented at a lower rate when the speed of the engine that drives the generator is below a predetermined speed than it is when the speed of the engine is above the predetermined speed. When the generator is not rotating, the up-count of the counter is limited to a predetermined value that provides a minimum field voltage duty cycle. The system is capable of sensing either battery voltage or rectifier output voltage and is controlled to automatically switch between battery voltage and rectifier voltage under certain operating conditions.

Abstract: We propose an on-chip high-voltage generator circuit for low-voltage EEPROMs composed of a pMOSFET-based charge pump circuit driven by bootstrapped clock generators. The voltage gain per unit stage does not suffer from the threshold voltage drop. The device implemented in a 1.2 /spl mu/m CMOS technology operates as low as 1 V.

Abstract: An adaptive pulse positioning system for a voltage converter providing an output voltage, the system including a PWM generation circuit, a sensor, and a pulse positioning circuit. The PWM generation circuit generates a PWM signal with PWM pulses for controlling the output voltage of the voltage controller. The sensor senses an output load condition of the voltage converter and provides a load signal indicative thereof. The pulse positioning circuit adaptively positions the PWM pulses based on the load signal. A method of adaptively positioning PWM pulses that are used to control an output voltage of a voltage regulator including generating a series of PWM pulses based on a clock signal, sensing an output load condition, and adaptively shifting the series of PWM pulses based on the output load condition.
