TL;DR: A low-dropout regulator for on-chip application with a power-supply rejection (PSR) boosting filter circuit for enhancing supply noise rejection at middle-to-high frequency over a wide loading range is presented in this brief.
Abstract: A low-dropout regulator for on-chip application with a power-supply rejection (PSR) boosting filter circuit for enhancing supply noise rejection at middle-to-high frequency over a wide loading range is presented in this brief. The idea has been analytically modeled and experimentally verified with a standard 0.13- μm CMOS process. The on-chip compensation capacitance is 1 pF. For the PSR filter design, the total on-chip capacitance is 20 pF. From the experimental results, the implemented regulator can operate with supply voltage of 1.2 V with nominal dropout voltage of 0.2 V at maximum load of 50 mA and IQ of 37.32 μA.

TL;DR: The combined regulator achieves a maximum efficiency of 82% and an IMD3 of 65 dBc at 10 MHz for 16 dBm output power, making this PA regulator suitable for CDMA applications.
Abstract: A combined class-AB and switch-mode regulator based supply modulator with a master-slave architecture achieving wide bandwidth and low ripple is presented. Low frequency content of the envelope waveform is provided by a synchronous-rectifier based switch-mode power supply while high frequency content is provided by a rail-to-rail class-AB amplifier. A wide range, low loss output current sensing circuit is used at the class-AB amplifier output, canceling the ripple due to switch-mode power supply and extending overall modulator bandwidth. The proposed regulator is designed and fabricated on a 0.35 mum CMOS process. The combined regulator achieves a maximum efficiency of 82% and an IMD3 of 65 dBc at 10 MHz for 16 dBm output power. The regulator achieves a frequency range up to 10 MHz with less than 0.2% envelope tracking error, making this PA regulator suitable for CDMA applications.

TL;DR: In this article, a noninvasive method for detecting failure of brushless exciter rotating diodes is presented, where the exciter field current waveform changes distinctly when a diode fails.
Abstract: A noninvasive method for detecting failure of brushless exciter rotating diodes is presented in this paper. Diodes can fail in one of two ways: either open circuit or short circuit. It is shown by actual test, on a 31.5-kVA alternator, that the exciter field current waveform changes distinctly when a diode fails. Harmonic analysis of the exciter field current waveform is performed. The results of this analysis form the basis of a method for real-time detection of diode failure on a microprocessor-based platform.

TL;DR: In this paper, a two-phase voltage regulation system and method identifies the characterization data pertinent to a family of integrated circuit devices in a first phase, and identifies an associated process split of a candidate integrated circuit device in a second phase.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for voltage regulation uses, in one aspect, worst-case supply voltages specific to the process split of the integrated device at issue. In another aspect, a two-phase voltage regulation system and method identifies the characterization data pertinent to a family of integrated circuit devices in a first phase, and identifies an associated process split of a candidate integrated circuit device in a second phase. The characterization data from the first phase is then used to provide supply voltages that correspond to target frequencies of operation for the candidate device. In another aspect, a hybrid voltage regulator circuit includes an open loop circuit which automatically identifies the process split of the integrated circuit device and allows a regulator to modify supply voltage based on characterization data specific to that process split, and a closed loop circuit which fine-tunes the supply voltage. In one embodiment, the closed-loop circuit includes a critical path replica for providing estimated frequencies of operation necessary for a critical path in the integrated circuit device. A ring oscillator circuit may be used in one embodiment in the critical path and/or in the open loop circuit.

Abstract: A regulator circuit includes an output circuit outputting an output voltage based on a control voltage, a reference voltage generating circuit generating a reference voltage, an output voltage control circuit comparing the reference voltage with a voltage depending on the output voltage and producing the control voltage based on a comparison result, and a power supply circuit which supplies the reference voltage generating circuit and the output voltage control circuit with a first power supply voltage which is different from a second power supply voltage supplied to the output circuit.
