TL;DR: In this article, an adaptive repetitive control scheme is proposed and applied to the control of a pulsewidth-modulated (PWM) inverter used in a high-performance AC power supply.
Abstract: An adaptive repetitive control scheme is proposed and applied to the control of a pulsewidth-modulated (PWM) inverter used in a high-performance AC power supply. The proposed control scheme can adaptively eliminate periodic distortions caused by unknown periodic load disturbances in an AC power supply. The proposed adaptive repetitive controller consists of a voltage regulator using state feedback control, a repetitive controller with tuning parameters and an adaptive controller with a recursive least-squares estimator (LSE). This adaptive repetitive controller designed for AC voltage regulation has been realized using a single-chip digital signal processor (DSP) TMS320C14 from Texas Instruments. Experimental verification has been carried out on a 2 kVA PWM inverter. Simulation and experimental results show that the DSP-based adaptive repetitive controller can achieve both good dynamic response and low total harmonic distortion (THD) under large-load disturbances and uncertainties.

TL;DR: In this paper, a functional improvement to the linear-programming-based optimal power flow technique is reported, which allows the rescheduling of the active power controls to correct voltage-magnitude-constraint violations.
Abstract: A functional improvement to the linear-programming-based optimal power flow technique is reported. The new feature allows the rescheduling of the active power controls to correct voltage-magnitude-constraint violations. It preserves the reliability and speed characteristics of the traditional linear programming approach. Results demonstrating the effectiveness of the method on a small and a large power system are presented. >

TL;DR: In this paper, two new topologies are proposed for three-phase dynamic voltage restorers (DVRs) based on direct converters, which do not require dc-link energy storage elements.
Abstract: In this paper, two new topologies are proposed for three-phase dynamic voltage restorers (DVRs). These topologies are based on direct converters. The proposed topologies do not require dc-link energy storage elements. As a result, they have less volume, weight, and cost. They can also compensate long-time voltage sags and swells. The proposed DVRs can compensate several types of disturbances, such as voltage sags, swells, unbalances, harmonics, and flickers. Moreover, due to the fact that the compensation voltage for each phase is taken from all three phases, the proposed topologies can compensate one-phase outages. In the proposed topologies, three independent three-phase to single-phase direct converters are used. Each converter operates independently and, as a result, the proposed DVRs properly compensate unbalanced voltage sags and swells. The used converters can be constructed by four or six power switches. Depending on the structure of the used converters, the compensation ranges will be different. A new control method is also proposed for using direct ac/ac converters. The experimental and simulation results verify the capabilities of the proposed topologies in compensation of voltage distortions.

TL;DR: A resistive droop method combined with the P-V droop and Q-/spl delta/ shift scheme is then proposed to control the current sharing such that multiple VRs can be paralleled directly without any control interconnection.
Abstract: This paper presents the analysis and design of a single-phase voltage regulator (VR) and its multinodule parallel control. The VR employs the pulsewidth modulation three-arm rectifier-inverter topology. The inverter side adjusts the load voltage with the series regulating structure aiming to minimize converter capacity and attain higher efficiency. The rectifier side regenerates the load power and executes the active power filter function to achieve unity power factor. Based on such high-performance VR, a resistive droop method combined with the P-V droop and Q-/spl delta/ shift scheme is then proposed to control the current sharing such that multiple VRs can be paralleled directly without any control interconnection. The proposed parallel control technique possesses the features of fast response, precise voltage regulation, equal fundamental and harmonic current sharing, tolerance for parameter mismatch, and so on. Two prototype 1 KVA VRs are implemented, and the effectiveness is demonstrated by some simulation and experimental results.

TL;DR: In this article, a novel pulsewidth-modulated (PWM) control technique for AC choppers is proposed that has the advantages of enabling linear control of the fundamental component of the output voltage and complete elimination of its harmonics up to a specified order.
Abstract: A novel pulse-width-modulated (PWM) control technique for AC choppers is proposed that has the advantages of enabling linear control of the fundamental component of the output voltage and complete elimination of its harmonics up to a specified order Theoretical comparisons are made with other basic PWM techniques, and the computed performance indicates the superiority of the present method The carrier wave required for the new technique is easily determined as a modification of a basic triangular wave that enables these beneficial features to be obtained over the full range of chopper operation and can be implemented by the storage of relatively simple control equations An experiment has verified the feasibility of the method as applied to the control of a single-phase automatic voltage regulator In the experiment, the modified triangular carrier wave is used to generate the required PWM switching function Good agreement is obtained between the calculated and experimental results >
