TL;DR: In this paper, a modified version of the Volterra series transfer function (VSTF) was proposed as an analytical solution to the nonlinear Schrodinger equation for single-mode fibers.
Abstract: In this letter, we offer a modified version of the Volterra series transfer function (VSTF) method that has been previously proposed as an analytical solution to the nonlinear Schrodinger equation for single-mode fibers. The modified VSTF provides a simple closed-form expression of the output of a mildly nonlinear fiber. It gives orders more accurate result than the original VSTF method and can successfully solve the energy divergence problem experienced by the original method. The result is a stronger analytical tool for modeling signal propagation in optical communication systems.

TL;DR: Application of volterra series for identification of a synchronous generator is investigated and simulation and experimental results show good accuracy of the identified models.
Abstract: Application of volterra series for identification of a synchronous generator is investigated in this paper. For linear systems, convolution integral can be used to model the input-output data set. For nonlinear systems, however, volterra series serves as a generalization of the convolution integral. To parameterize the volterra kernels, orthogonal functions have been used. The proposed method is first applied on a seventh order nonlinear model of a synchronous generator with saturation effect and then it is tested on a micro-machine system. In this study, the field voltage is considered as the input and the active output power and the terminal voltage are considered as the outputs of the synchronous generator. Simulation and experimental results show good accuracy of the identified models.

TL;DR: In this article, a nonlinear state-space structure for adaptive nonlinear filters is proposed, where the adaptive filters are recursive and thus generally have an infinite impulse response (IIR).
Abstract: Adaptive nonlinear filters previously reported often employ truncated Volterra series and have a finite impulse response (FIR). This paper introduces a nonlinear state-space structure for adaptive nonlinear filters. The adaptive filters are recursive and thus generally have an infinite impulse response (IIR). They are expected to be useful for many applications and are especially attractive for those with long memories where adaptive nonlinear FIR filters are too expensive to use. Efficient methods, which significantly reduce computation for gradients, have been developed to facilitate further their application in real-time signal processing. Numerical simulations have been performed to demonstrate the properties of the proposed algorithms. >

TL;DR: It is shown that the feedback loop satisfies a system of quasi-linear partial differential equations that degenerates into algebraic equations when the performance index does not depend on the control.

TL;DR: In this article, a nonlinear frequency-dependent model for the transistor and with Volterra series as an analysis tool was used to determine the optimum cascade that has high gain and good modulation performance especially for higher frequencies.
Abstract: Intermodulation distortion performance of cascaded transistors is analyzed using a nonlinear frequency-dependent model for the transistor and with Volterra series as an analysis tool. The objective of this study is to determine the optimum cascade that has high gain and good modulation performance especially for higher frequencies. A particular application is in long-haul, analog, solid-state coaxial systems where intermodulation distortion is a critical problem. Both experimental as well as computer results are used in this analysis. It is shown, for example, that certain low distortion configurations can exhibit high distortion when cascaded. A few optimum cascade configurations are discussed in detail.
