TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined the variability in nearshore wave power at four shallowwater locations along the east and west coast of India based on the measured wave data for one-year period.
Abstract: Variations in nearshore wave power at four shallowwater locations along the east and west coast of India are examined based on the measured wave data for one-year period. The study shows that along the west coast of India, 83–85% of the annual wave power is during the summer monsoon period (June–September), whereas at Visakhapatnam (on the east coast), 55% of the annual wave power is during the summer monsoon period. Along Puducherry coast in the east, wave power is relatively less with maximum value of 31.8 kW m. The average wave power during the summer monsoon is high (15.5–19.3 kW m) along the west coast of India. The study shows that the annual average wave power (1.8–7.6 kW m) along the locations studied is much lower than that available for temperate zones.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a communication method that can quickly decide proper wireless resource assignment and a communication system for conducting communication between a base station unit and the communication terminal, where a complex correlation section 110 applies complex multiplication of a known pattern, to distinguish a signal of each base station with a baseband signal resulting from applying frequency conversion to a known signal sent from a BS unit which is the object of a communication opposite party to have a BS frequency to conduct inverse spread on the BS signal.
Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication method, that can quickly decide proper wireless resource assignment and a communication system for conducting communication between a base station unit and a communication terminal. SOLUTION: A complex correlation section 110 applies complex multiplication of a known pattern, to distinguish a signal of each base station with a baseband signal resulting from applying frequency conversion to a known signal sent from a base station unit which is the object of a communication opposite party to have a baseband frequency to conduct inverse spread on the baseband signal and to obtain an amplitude. A desired wave power measurement section 111 averages the amplitude by a prescribed number of symbols, and an interference wave power measurement 112 suppresses the interference wave component for calculating the desired wave power and attenuates the desired wave power from the amplitude to separate the interference wave component. A division section 113 divides the desired wave by the interference wave, to calculate a CIR value and provided an output of it to transmission sections 102-1 to 102-n. The transmission sections 102-1 to 102-n apply processings required for wireless transmission, such as modulation, coding and frequency conversion to the CIR value and transmit the result via an antenna 103. TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used an optimization method to highlight the importance of time scales in the design of a bottom-fixed OWC (oscillating water column) and showed that OWC performance can be enhanced by designing systems whose configuration can be adapted to successive sea states.

TL;DR: The total annual wave power resource available over the Brazilian offshore was estimated in 89.97 GW, with largest mean wave power of 20.63 kW/m in the southernmost part of the study area.
Abstract: This paper presents a characterization of the wave power resource and an analysis of the wave power output for three (AquaBuoy, Pelamis and Wave Dragon) different wave energy converters (WEC) over the Brazilian offshore. To do so it used a 35 years reanalysis database from the ERA-Interim project. Annual and seasonal statistical analyzes of significant height and energy period were performed, and the directional variability of the incident waves were evaluated. The wave power resource was characterized in terms of the statistical parameters of mean, maximum, 95th percentile and standard deviation, and in terms of the temporal variability coefficients COV, SV e MV. From these analyses, the total annual wave power resource available over the Brazilian offshore was estimated in 89.97 GW, with largest mean wave power of 20.63 kW/m in the southernmost part of the study area. The analysis of the three WEC was based in the annual wave energy output and in the capacity factor. The higher capacity factor was 21.85% for Pelamis device at the southern region of the study area.
