TL;DR: In this article, a remote sensing platform for agricultural purposes (PETEFA) is proposed to provide timely information through remote sensing tools to the farmers and to the National Institute of Agrarian Innovation (INIA).
Abstract: Providing timely information through remote sensing tools to the farmers and to the National Institute of Agrarian Innovation (INIA) is important to manage the production of yellow corn crops (Zea Mays) in the region of Lambayeque, Peru. This paper addresses three objectives by providing information in different levels: First, provide information about the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) from crops in their different stages during their lifecycle; secondly, provide georeferenced soil analysis information organized by parcels and, finally, provide information about evapotranspiration of each parcel calculated using weather station sensors, soil type, land uses and georefer-enced NDVI masks. All this information is provided through a Geographic Information System called Remote Sensing Platform for Agricultural Purposes (PETEFA), which is based on open source tools. In short, PETEFA is a monitoring tool that provides information through a computer or mobile device to the farmers or the INIA.

TL;DR: In this article, the spatio-temporal kriging method was used to interpolate temperature data and the real value at the central point of the greenhouse was used for comparison.
Abstract: In order to minimize the impacts of climate change on various crops, farmers must learn to monitor environmental conditions accurately and effectively, especially for plants that are particularly sensitive to the weather. On-site sensors and weather stations are two common methods for collecting data and observing weather conditions. Although sensors are capable of collecting accurate weather information on-site, they can be costly and time-consuming to install and maintain. An alternative is to use the online weather stations, which are usually government-owned and free to the public; however, their accuracy is questionable because they are frequently located far from the farmers’ greenhouses. Therefore, we compared the accuracy of kriging estimators using the weather station data (collected by the Central Weather Bureau) to local sensors located in the greenhouse. The spatio-temporal kriging method was used to interpolate temperature data. The real value at the central point of the greenhouse was used for comparison. According to our results, the accuracy of the weather station estimator was slightly lower than that of the local sensor estimator. Farmers can obtain accurate estimators of environmental data by using on-site sensors; however, if they are unavailable, using a nearby weather station estimator is also acceptable.

TL;DR: In this article, an active weather system includes a main weather station unit, a humidifier unit and a remote sensor, which can be placed away from the main unit to sense temperature and humidity in its environment.
Abstract: An active weather system includes a main weather station unit, a humidifier unit and a remote sensor. The main weather station unit has a main housing with a humidity sensor that detects a level of humidity in an area surrounding the main weather station unit. The humidifier unit includes a housing with a nest for removably mounting the main housing. The humidifier unit also includes a water tank and a humidifier. The humidifier vaporizes water from the water tank when the humidity sensor detects a level of humidity lower than a preset level. Electrical contacts in the nest of the humidifier housing and the main weather station electrically connect the units when the main housing is mounted in the nest. The remote sensor may be placed away from the main unit, such as outdoors, to sense temperature and/or humidity in its environment. The remote sensor includes a transmitter, which sends the temperature and/or humidity information it detects to the main weather station unit.
