System for processing a web

Abstract: A system for processing a virgin web to yield printed documents such as business forms comprises a printing device adapted for printing non-repetitive (variable) and repetitive (constant) information and data as determined by a computer, and processing devices disposed--in relation to the transporting direction of the web--in front of and past the printing device and serving for shaping the web and possibly for printing onto the web in color. The processing devices are preferably built in the form of slide-in units adapted to be loosenably mounted into shelves of the system and to be driven for instance through separable connecting means by drive devices fixedly mounted on the frame. The system makes it possible to process the web within a small space and with small energy requirements, and to assemble and disassemble the processing devices with rapidity.

Abstract: The system for processing data and for the production of documents comprises a device (3) for processing a group consisting of virgin paper web (5) to be printed documents (7). The device (3) has a printing unit (51) for printing from a computer (1) certain variable and constant data and in relation to the transport direction of the web (5) before and arranged after the printing unit (51) processing devices (39 (, 71, 77, 83) for shaping and printing the web 5) with color information. The processing devices (39, 71, 77, 83) are formed as a cassette-like inserts and releasably compartments inserted (91) of the device (3) and separable connecting means (61, 65) carried on the frame (11) of the device (3 ) attached to drive means (63, 67) drivable. The device allows the entire processing of the web (5) in a small space as well as to carry out and with low energy consumption the processing devices (39, 71, 77, 83) off rapidly and install.
