Abstract: Six 1 1/2-month old ostrich chickens in the Upington district of the Cape Province developed lameness. Two died and pathological examination of one of them revealed lesions identical to those of white muscle disease in the larger muscle groups. Vitamin E-selenium therapy cured the other 4. The diet of the animals consisted mainly of lucerne (alfalfa).
