Abstract: The remote control for radio and television receivers selects channels and stations and adjusts volume etc., by transmitting control signals to a decoder with a processor connected to the radio or television receiver. The decoder and processor combination is completely separate from the receiver and is connected to the latter by a cable. The decoder and processor combination may have several sockets for the supply of various receivers requiring controlling and itself has a plug for connecting to the mains supply etc. It may be provided with its own supply. The remote control may be replaced by direct control arrangements.
