TL;DR: In this paper, the authors propose an exemplary mesh router implementation, where a mesh router is capable of establishing a wireless mesh network with other mesh routers, and the mesh router can further be adapted to exclude another mesh router that is associated with a particular certificate when the particular certificate has been identified as delinquent by the designated neighborhood administrator.
Abstract: In an exemplary method implementation, a method includes: designating a neighborhood administrator; receiving notification of a delinquent router from the designated neighborhood administrator; and excluding the delinquent router responsive to the notification. In an exemplary mesh router implementation, a mesh router is capable of establishing a wireless mesh network with other mesh routers, the mesh router is further capable of designating a neighborhood administrator mesh router; and the mesh router is adapted to exclude another mesh router that is associated with a particular certificate when the particular certificate has been identified as delinquent by the designated neighborhood administrator. mesh router.

TL;DR: In this article, a system and method for forwarding data in hybrid wireless mesh networks is described, which includes configuring a number of mesh network nodes as potential relay nodes (PRNs) in an overlay network associated with a HWM network, and relaying data packets from RNs to the destination node using the overlay network.
Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for forwarding data in hybrid wireless mesh networks. The method includes configuring a number of mesh network nodes as potential relay nodes (PRNs) in an overlay network associated with a hybrid wireless mesh network, streaming data packets from a source node to a destination node using a native data forwarding algorithm of the hybrid wireless mesh network, dynamically identifying relay nodes (RNs) among PRNs in the overlay network, creating secondary paths for sending data packets towards selected RNs in the overlay network, and relaying data packets from RNs to the destination node using the overlay network.

TL;DR: In this article, a plurality of mesh-connecting ports interconnect an own bridge and other bridges as a mesh network and a shortest path constructing unit constructs the shortest path between the bridges through the packet transmitter/receiver.
Abstract: A plurality of mesh-connecting ports interconnect a plurality of bridges including an own bridge and other bridges as a mesh network. A packet transmitter/receiver reciprocally transmits and receives packets between the plurality of bridges through the mesh-connecting ports. A shortest path constructing unit constructs the shortest path between the bridges through the packet transmitter/receiver. An STP processing unit executes STP processing for activating a spanning tree protocol (STP) to provide redundancy to the mesh network. A backup processing unit continuously leaves in the mesh domain a first mesh network bridge detected a line fault, and executes the backup processing to active a back up protocol for forming a backup route in such a manner that the packet reaches a second mesh network bridge that has become unreachable by the line fault, through a third mesh bridge connected with the second mesh network bridge.

TL;DR: In this article, an innovative gateway placement scheme is proposed for wireless mesh networks (WMNs), where the location of a gateway is determined based on a new performance metric called multi-hop traffic-flow weight (MTW).
Abstract: An innovative gateway placement scheme is proposed for wireless mesh networks (WMNs) in this paper. In the WMN model, a regular grid backbone network comprising of mesh routers overlays on an ad hoc network comprising of mesh clients; a certain amount of gateways is chosen among mesh routers to provide Internet access. Thus, given the number of gateways, the proposed gateway placement scheme provides a framework of maximizing the throughput of WMNs through proper placement of these gateways. The location of a gateway is determined based on a new performance metric called multi-hop traffic-flow weight (MTW). The MTW computation takes into account many factors that impact the throughput of WMNs, i.e., the number of mesh routers, the number of mesh clients, the number of gateways, traffic demand from mesh clients, locations of gateways, and possible interference among gateways. The performance of the proposed gateway placement scheme is evaluated through simulations. Experimental results show that it constantly outperforms other schemes with a large margin.

TL;DR: In this paper, an approach for discovering a local service over an ad-hoc mesh network is presented, where the local service is discovered sending an anonymous flooding message including a query over the ad hoc mesh network.
Abstract: An approach is provided for discovering a local service over an ad-hoc mesh network. A local service is discovered sending an anonymous flooding message including a query over the ad-hoc mesh network. A wireless node replies to the flooding message over the ad-hoc mesh network with a pointer or data related to the discovered local service.
