Abstract: The significance of work-life balance has increased over time from the traditional focus on mothers with young children in employment to include a greater aspect such as female students in tertiary institutions. The number of female students combining full-time study with part-time employment has increased in recent years attaining this balance can be a complex and challenging task for female students. The purpose of this paper is to examine Nigerian female student’s perception on work life balance. This paper also explores how female students of tertiary institutions balance the competing demands of work, study, and social activities. The paper is based on a mixed method approach utilizing both qualitative and quantitative methods. The results showed that the female students had difficulties when balancing the multiple demands of work, study, and social activities. Adverse effects of this imbalance were found in the form of missed lectures and, increased stress. However, female students indicated the benefit of working such as obtaining relevant skills which improves their CV’s far outweighs the difficulties. The female students recognized that it was not the responsibility of the university to ensure that female students who were engaged in part-time employment were not overly distracted from school work. Although, they indicated that the university should show more concern towards female students financial conditions.

Abstract: In today’s competitive environment, work life balance and stress management for women employees is highly desirable and if there is no job satisfaction and regularity in life, it can create a problem for working women. Stress of work life balance is seen in every corner of the world which occurs to everyone. It becomes critical when there is no job satisfaction. Work life balance requires, getting stability between professional work and personal work, so that it reduces friction between official and domestic life. The final performance of any organization depends on the performance of its employees, which in turn depends on several factors. These factors can be related to job satisfaction. An empirical study is conducted among the working women of public sector banks with the purpose of assessing impact of work life balance and stress management on job satisfaction. Secondary data is used to understand and conclude the study. Observation during the study suggests that WLB and Stress management can be achieved by the factors responsible for job satisfaction such as: encouraging social groups, accommodating working conditions, mentally challenging work, impartial rewards and employee oriented policies etc. To conclude the study, it is suggested that Work-Life Balance and stress management is not a problem to be solved, it is a constant issue to be managed.

Abstract: In the last six decades, work life and family life spheres of employees have undergone various changes. This paper presents an empirical study of major factors which have influenced employee work-life balance and popular work-life balance tools initiated at organisational level to help an employee balance different life segments such as work, family, personal finances, career and health. Current work-life balance approach, tools and programmes at organisational level primarily address those issues of work and personal life which got highlighted between the 1950’s and later years of the 20th century. Current global recession in the 21st century has created an uncertain economic scenario in which employers and employees are facing new challenges and earlier work-life balance research might not be sufficient enough address the new issues. This calls for further research on work-life balance, for a wider applicability of work-life balance programmes at organisational level.

Abstract: Women account for a large proportion of the hotel industry Work-life conflict has become one of the main obstacles to the organizational commitment of women Thus, this study investigates the relationship for women between work-life balance, as an independent variable, and organizational commitment, as a dependent variable Specifically, we examine women's work-life balance in the hospitality industry and compare women's organizational commitment under different levels of work-life balance Then, we assess whether women's work-life balance and organizational commitment are associated with their sociodemographic characteristics (ie, age, education, working years, and position level) Data were collected from 525 women employees in China Multiple linear regression analyses were conducted to identify the relationship between work-life balance and organizational commitment The results showed that work-life balance had a significant effect on organizational commitment There was also a significant relationship between women's sociodemographic characteristics, work-life balance, and organizational commitment

Research assistance for the preparation of this report synthesizing the findings of the country case studies conducted in Brazil, the Republic of Korea, and South Africa was provided by Patricia Vidal, including a desk review and qualitative analysis of the effects of working time arrangements on workers' well-being and individual and organizational performance.
