Abstract: This report is focused on what companies can do to support women returning to work after a career break and to continue to progress their careers. Clearly company specific work life balance policies have a significant role to play but it is important to recognise the wide range of other factors within a broader cultural context. The decisions that women make at the time of maternity including whether or not to work part time on returning to work, can often determine what options they might have at a later stage in their careers. Yet these crucial decisions are not made in isolation but are strongly influenced by gendered cultural assumptions both inside and outside of the workplace. As well as company policies these include national legal frameworks, availability of care networks, work status, as well as personal preferences

TL;DR: Work and home life are central aspects of most employees' lives, although there are also other significant aspects of the work-life balance, such as leisure, political and social engagements as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: The right balance between work, personal life and daily recovery is an important determinant of employees’ well-being, health and experience of stress. One of the most important things in many people's lives is their relationship with their family. Work and home life are central aspects of most employees' lives, although there are also other significant aspects of the work-life balance, such as leisure, political and social engagements. The interaction between work and home can be negative, for example, when the time spent working leaves too little time for private life; or it can be positive, for example, when a stimulating job enhances one's general mood and life satisfaction. This chapter reviews the concepts of work-life balance, discusses recovery from work, and presents two key components of flexible work - time flexibility and place flexibility. The review focuses on the antecedents of these concepts and their consequences in terms of health, well-being and job-related outcomes.

Abstract: We work to live, not live to work. When money dominates the modern life, people do not find few hours to spend on their personal life and the new generation that forms the majority part of the Indian working population, ends up with an unbalanced life. But the employee, whichever age group he/she belongs to at any cost, needs to maintain a healthy balance between his job and life. This paper discusses how an individual helps himself and how the organizations can help the individuals to maintain a healthy balance between work life and the personal life.
