Abstract: The aim of this study is to explore the changing nature of agro-ecological system and its impact on crop production in the rural areas of Bangladesh. Both quantitative and qualitative methodologies were employed. Primary data were collected through the tools and techniques of social survey and Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) methods. Data of three generations of the respondents were considered in this study to understand the changing pattern. Statistically significant (p<0.05) changes in agricultural occupation was recorded along with literacy level. Soil quality has been deteriorated in the study area that led to fertility reduction, loss of useful insects and birds. Complete dependency on groundwater for irrigation was also recorded that was almost entirely dependent on surface waters in past. tion) and "lifestyle" (health, family, pleasure and leisure). The present study is an effort to identify the causes and impact of stress on the work life balance and whether the feeling of being alienated is felt by the employee’s of an organization. This feeling of alienation can lead to mental agony (bad mental health) among the employee’s. This paper argues that alienation must be manifested in the workplace and its possible linkages to other concepts (work engagement, stress and burnout) along with the associated positive and negative work experiences are also discussed. It is further suggested that alienation needs to be addressed at both, the systemic and the individual level. Four dimensions of work alienations are monitored viz., Meaninglessness, Powerlessness, Isolation and Self-Estrangement.

TL;DR: In this paper, a macro-level model of work-life balance is presented to justify the need of worklife balance initiatives at organisational level during the present economic downturn, and a detailed analysis of proven and anticipated benefits of work life balance are presented.
Abstract: During the second half of the 20th century, with work demands increasingly encroaching on family and personal time at a faster pace, employers acknowledged the need of work-life balance programmes to facilitate employees maintain a healthy balance between the conflicting demands of their work and personal life. Availability of work-life balance facilities to employees witnessed a phenomenal growth between the late eighties of the 20 th century and early years of the 21st century. This growth has been abruptly interrupted by the current economic downturn. Increasing numbers of organisations, in the name of cost cutting, have either curtailed work-life balance facilities or are contemplating to do the same. This paper analyses the emergence of work-life balance discourse, from the days of early communal living till the present day theories, and presents a macro level model of work-life balance. Further, a detailed analysis of proven and anticipated benefits of work-life balance is presented to justify the need of work-life balance initiatives at organisational level during the present economic downturn.
