Abstract: ABSTRACT The paper explores whether work-life balance (WLB) is affected by the unbounded work context and how organisational support, work flexibility and gender affect this relationship. It is a quantitative study, involving a survey of academics based in three UK institutions, using OLS regressions. There is a significant negative relationship between the perception of the unbounded nature of work and WLB among academics, irrespective of their gender. While flexible work and organisational support are positively associated with WLB, they have limited effect in an unbounded work context. This study makes original contributions for practitioners and academics. First, it provides empirical evidence of the relationship between the unboundedness of work and WLB, and finds no significant gender differences in WLB within an unbounded work context. Second, it helps to understand how flexible work and an organisational support culture are insufficient to eliminate the negative effect of unbounded work. Although the research involves a relatively small sample of UK academics provides insights into WLB in an unbounded work context. As became evident during the coronavirus pandemic, the boundaries between work and non-work domains in contemporary work settings are more and more blurred. Work will therefore become increasingly unbounded, potentially undermining WLB and causing tension between growing work demands and the necessities of family and personal lives.

TL;DR: In this article, a critical analysis of work life balance with the aim of broadening existing knowledge and providing a better understanding of the position and contributions in the field is presented, with the purpose of critically investigate on the relationship and impact existing between worklife balance and employee's loyalty, satisfaction and productivity with Spillover Theory as its theoretical foundation.
Abstract: The concept of work life balance has become of prominence in ensuring stability and balance between employees work and personal life. This study is a critical analysis of work life balance with the aim of broadening existing knowledge and providing a better understanding of the position and contributions in the field. The purpose of this study is to critically investigate on the relationship and impact existing between work life balance and employee’s loyalty, satisfaction and productivity with Spillover Theory as its theoretical foundation. Three hundred and sixty questionnaires were distributed to academic staff at one public university in Malaysia of which one hundred and thirty four were returned and only one hundred and twenty three were useable to the researcher for analysis. Multiple regressions were used to analyze the data. The results of the study indicate that work life balance has a positive relationship with employee’s loyalty, satisfaction and productivity. Furthermore, work life balance has the strongest impact on employees’ satisfaction. Among all the variables that make up work life balance, leaves and breaks has the highest and strongest prediction in balancing employees work and home life. In conclusion, future research could be conducted to identify the impact of work life balance on the effectiveness of an entire organization, that is, on an organizational level. Also future research could consider widening the scope of the study to other universities and organizations.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined the effect of various "work-life balance" determinants such as employee benefits, work environment, workload, flextime and discrimination on work culture and job satisfaction.
Abstract: Purpose: The study examined the effect of various ‘work-life balance’ determinants such as employee benefits, work environment, workload, flextime and discrimination on work culture and job satisfaction. Introduction: In the second half of the last century, tremendous environmental, economic, political, and socio cultural changes contributed to the restructuring of couples in their relation to work. Methods: Data were collected from a multinational insurance firm based on structured questionnaire. Conclusion: Results indicated that employee benefits, work environment, flextime, and discrimination were significantly related with job satisfaction. Although work environment and workload were related significantly with work, culture but work culture has no relationship with flextime, and discrimination of the employees. Recommendations: The findings suggest that incorporating these dimensions may render service organization with the potent to improve existing level of performance and job satisfaction.
