TL;DR: In this paper, a study was conducted to find out the factors that affect work life balance among Generation Y employees of tobacco companies and used quantitative method to determine the relationship between independent variables which is personality, family demand and technology and dependent variable being work-life balance.
Abstract: This study was conducted to find out the factors that affect work life balance among Generation Y employees of tobacco companies and used quantitative method to determine the relationship between independent variables which is personality, family demand and technology and dependent variable being work life balance. Through this study, employers can identify the factors which affect work life balance and they can think about how to minimize the negative impact and promote work life balance among Generation Y employees in order to reduce absenteeism, reduce high turnover and increase employee job performance. On the other hand, employees should understand what affects their work life balance and learn how to management their role accordingly. This study involved 114 respondents from accounting and finance department from tobacco companies. Researcher has distributed 152 sets of questionnaires to respondents but only received 114 complete questionnaires. The questionnaire contains 38 items that have used five point Likert scale. Each hypothesis was tested using Statistics Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 23.0. The obtained data were analysed using descriptive and inferential analysis namely correlation and regression. Four hypotheses were formed to perform the inferential analysis to determine the relationship between independent variables and dependent variables. The results of the study showed that all three factors which is personality, family demand and technology is positively related to work life balance. However, technology is the main contributor towards work life balance among Generation Y employees. Respondents demographic details was also discussed using percentage and frequencies. In nut shell, even though Generation Y employees are labeled as digital generation, work life balance will be affected when their work and non-work responsibilities overlaps due to technology. Various recommendations for further research were also addressed.

Abstract: Work-life balance has been considered as important component in individual life. Today in order to attract and retain their employees organizations are considering work-life balance as their prime concern. The main purpose of this study is to examine the work-life balance of working fathers in Kathmandu Valley. This study followed descriptive method of data analysis and 405 samples were collected with the help of non-probability sampling method. Further, the study revealed that satisfaction and motivation are considered to be key factors that help to maintain work-life balance. However unhelpful attitude of colleagues is found to be major reason creating work-life unbalance. 77.03% working fathers stated that they face challenge in maintaining work-life balance. Abstract: This work analyzed work life balance and job satisfaction in selected deposit banks in Anambra State. Relevant theoretical and empirical literatures were reviewed. This research work was anchored on Hertzberg’s Two-Factor Theory and the effort-recovery (E-R) model. Correlation descriptive survey approach was employed as the design of the study. Primary data were used for the study. The study population (390) comprised of six Banks in Anambra State. The sample size was 390. The data generated were analyzed with simple percentages and descriptive statistics. The study employed Multiple Regression Analysis (MRA) to determine the effect of work life balance and job satisfaction. The study found that Workload pressure, Role vagueness and organizational politics have significant relationship with job satisfaction negatively, while inadequate career development was found to have no significant relationships with job satisfaction. The study concludes that work life balance of employees is becoming a serious issue in the banking industry. Work life balance has a considerable importance for the organizational concern, because it has a direct effect on the employee’s health and their performance and job satisfaction. It affects both employees and employers alike and declines their productivity, job performance and job satisfaction. Work life balance influences the people both in positive and negative way. At the initial stage, it influences positively by motivating employees, but if it is consistent for long periods, it influences the people negatively through increasing frustration, anxiety and tardiness. Based on the findings, the study recommended that Banks should put in effective work life balance management strategy that will reduce workload pressure, role conflict and family related stress, so as to improve the job satisfaction of their employees. Employees should take measures which are under their control that allow them to correctly perform their responsibilities assertively. Relaxation in various forms which do not hamper their work can be an appropriate factor to recover from identified work life balance issues.

TL;DR: In this article , work-life balance and intrinsic and extrinsic work values as antecedents of job embeddedness were investigated in a sample of 211 members of Generation Y with work experience.
Abstract: PurposeThe objective of this research is to study work–life balance and intrinsic and extrinsic work values as antecedents of job embeddedness. Likewise, the conservation of resources (COR) theory is used as a framework of the study and the research contributes to expanding its field of action.Design/methodology/approachA quantitative study was designed, following the guidelines of the hypothetical-deductive method. The model is validated in a sample of 211 members of Generation Y with work experience. Data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Models (PLS-SEM).FindingsResearch has shown that work–life balance is an antecedent of job embeddedness for each dimension (links, fit and sacrifice). Regarding work values, the research results allow us to appreciate that for Generation Y; it is the intrinsic work values that are significant.Originality/valueJob embeddedness has been studied under the framework of the COR theory. The study contributes to expanding the field of action of this theory in terms of voluntary turnover and the tangible or intangible resources that influence it. The literature presents differing opinions about what members of Generation Y value in the workplace and results show that work–life balance and intrinsic work values are appreciated by them. The sample is made up of people with working experience while research on Generation Y often uses students. Companies will be able to offer more precise benefits to retain Generation Y based on this research.
