Abstract: In India, entrepreneurship has traditionally been considered a male prerogative. However, in tandem with a changing socio-cultural environment and an increase in educational opportunities, women have started recognizing their inherent talents and business skills. With the help of various governmental and non-governmental agencies, growing numbers of women are joining the ranks of entrepreneurs. However, in the existing familial and societal setup, entrepreneurial women are overburdened and find it increasingly difficult to balance their work and life roles.

Abstract: The ProblemSignificant advances in technology and the increasing ways in which employees use it in their work and personal lives have led to an environment in which employees can work nearly anytime and anywhere. Although virtual human resource development (VHRD) brings with it useful efficiencies and increased opportunities for learning, the prospect of 24/7 learning can have a deleterious impact on work–life balance for employees.The SolutionThe aim of this article is to first explain how work–life balance and workplace technology interact to affect the lives of employees. The article models boundaries between these areas and recommends that attention to work–life balance become part of practice when human resource development (HRD) professionals design virtual learning or help develop workplace technologies and policies.The StakeholdersStakeholders include HRD professionals, scholars who study work–life balance, and organizational leaders who implement workplace technology policies and practices.

Abstract: Background: Balancing career and family obligations poses challenges to medical school faculty and contributes to dissatisfaction and attrition from academics. We examined the relationship between family setting and responsibilities, rank, and career and work–life satisfaction for faculty in a large U.S. medical school. Methods: Baseline faculty surveys were analyzed from the first year of a 4-year National Institutes of Health–funded study to evaluate awareness, knowledge, attitudes, and use of family friendly policies and career satisfaction. The study focus was on the impact of family responsibilities and characteristics of the faculty position (rank, clinical vs. nonclinical, and academic series) in multivariate comparisons between primary predictors and outcomes of interest. Abstract: Work-life balance is the term used to describe practices in achieving a balance between the demands of employees’ family (life) and work lives. The demands and pressures of work make difficult to stretch time for balancing work-life activities. Women taking up work-life balance challenge have an impact on women's advancement. Organization also may create work place culture and climates that reflect concern for employees’ lives outside of work. It is important for organizations to periodically review current work processes and practices to determine which ones lead to work inefficiencies and employee stress. In this background the present study was undertaken to determine the Indian Career Women work-life balance. The present study focuses on the relationship between role efficacy and emotional intelligence as related to work- life balance of Career women. Sample consists of 63 career women working in Andhra Pradesh, India. The results show that there is a significant impact of factors affecting Role efficacy on Emotional Intelligence.
