TL;DR: In this article, the authors show negative consequences of the tendency to shorten the working time and to make it more flexible, especially for maintaining balance between work and private life, and reach the conclusion that the transformations of working time, related to negative changes in its organization, can be perceived as a factor of dehumanization of one's work.
Abstract: Shortening working time and making it more flexible, which have been observed in Europe since mid-20th century, are perceived as the main features and conditions for labour humanization as well as the sign of social progress. The aim of the article has been showing negative consequences of this phenomenon, especially for maintaining balance between work and private life. It was based on hypothesis that the tendency to shorten the working time and to make it more flexible cannot be seen only as a factor of humanization, as the achievements of the social policy in Europe have been accompanied by many negative aspects, having a negative influence over both employees and employers. One of those observed occurrences were progressive disturbances in balancing work and private life. The considerations have been based on critical literature analysis method, the analysis of formal legal documents and statistics reports and sources. The transformations of working time and their influence over free time shortage and thus the imbalance between work and private life have been analysed. The theoretical-problem analyses allowed to reach the conclusion that the transformations of working time, related to negative changes in its organization, can be perceived as a factor of dehumanization of one’s work.

Abstract: Studies on work-life balance (WLB) in India and South East Asian countries have mostly used western scales for evaluating work/life conflict and work/life balance. This research used an Indian questionnaire to look at WLB and gender differences in Indian perspective. 24 item scale developed by Singh (2014), was used in this study for assessing WLB in middle level managers in India. Findings suggested significant difference between men and women, in work spillover in personal life and personal life spillover in work. Findings suggested women managers experience significantly more work interference in personal life and personal life interference in work, as compared to men

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigate the challenges associated with work-life balance and its resultant effect on organizational performance of Nigerian female employees using Lagos state as a case study and make use of questionnaires as its research instrument while incorporating other primary and secondary sources of data collection.
Abstract: With the increase in the number of women who are secularly employed and the pressure associated with effectively combining work and non-work aspects of life, work life balance is considered to be very timely and necessary. Many consider the responsibility of balancing work and life as the sole responsibility of the employee; and in an environment like Nigeria dominated by patriarchy and affected by other social and economic construct, work-life balance seems like a daydream for employees especially for women. This research seeks to investigate the challenges associated with work-life balance and its resultant effect on organizational performance of Nigerian female employees using Lagos state as a case study. The research adopted descriptive research design coupled with Harvard style of referencing. It made use of questionnaires as its research instrument while incorporating other primary and secondary sources of data collection and these questionnaires were analyzed using SPSS. From the research it was discovered that combining work with non work aspects of life was a huge challenge to many women because of the inflexible nature of their jobs. This is because of the failure of the Nigerian organization to provide enabling environment for women to seamlessly combine work and life. This research further discovered that many women adopt relational help as a major coping strategy. Though few others suggested sick leave or study/training leave, it was observed that a lot of employees hardly utilize these opportunities. The research also encountered some limitations like response rate of questionnaires and the gender restriction which was clearly stated
