Abstract: We give here a brief overview of the use of machine learning (ML) in our field, for chemists and materials scientists with no experience with these techniques. We illustrate the workflow of ML for computational studies of materials, with a specific interest in the prediction of materials properties. We present concisely the fundamental ideas of ML, and for each stage of the workflow, we give examples of the possibilities and questions to be considered in implementing ML-based modeling.

Abstract: A method for generating a workflow on a computer. Assessment data, e.g. defining a need, is obtained from a user. Based thereon, a workflow including a logical sequence of interdependent steps to be made is created using an assessment system. A number of workflow steps are presented to the user in a logical order, and results from the progress of one or more steps may be gathered. The workflow may be modified thereon, if needed, using sub-solutions, logic rules, inference rules and said results by adding and/or removing steps to/from said workflow based on a list of purposes and knowledge of the order in which some or all steps must be made. After modifying the workflow, the presentation thereof is started by the next or more unfinished steps which are not dependent on an unfinished step, thereby forming an adaptive procedure.

Abstract: Most leaders of new product teams are aware of the complexity of the problem they confront and the changes that must occur before cross-functional teamwork can accelerate new product development processes. Most know, for instance, that promoting cross-functional thinking, collaborative decision making, and concurrent organization of new product workflow are advantageous. Only a select few, however, consistently act on these insights and affect meaningful changes. The differences between more and less effective leaders lies less in what they espouse or profess and more in the process by which they learn and form new visions and develop new ways of defining their behaviors.

Abstract: Summary A new version (version 2) of the genomic dose-response analysis software, BMDExpress, has been created. The software addresses the increasing use of transcriptomic dose-response data in toxicology, drug design, risk assessment and translational research. In this new version, we have implemented additional statistical filtering options (e.g. Williams' trend test), curve fitting models, Linux and Macintosh compatibility and support for additional transcriptomic platforms with up-to-date gene annotations. Furthermore, we have implemented extensive data visualizations, on-the-fly data filtering, and a batch-wise analysis workflow. We have also significantly re-engineered the code base to reflect contemporary software engineering practices and streamline future development. The first version of BMDExpress was developed in 2007 to meet an unmet demand for easy-to-use transcriptomic dose-response analysis software. Since its original release, however, transcriptomic platforms, technologies, pathway annotations and quantitative methods for data analysis have undergone a large change necessitating a significant re-development of BMDExpress. To that end, as of 2016, the National Toxicology Program assumed stewardship of BMDExpress. The result is a modernized and updated BMDExpress 2 that addresses the needs of the growing toxicogenomics user community. Abstract: The generation and usage of workflows for processing data on a printing device includes receiving a request to create a workflow for a printing device. One or more operations that may be included in the workflow are displayed, and user-selection of at least one of the one or more operations is received. The user-selected operations are added to the workflow, and a user-selection of an order in which multiple ones of the user-selected operations are to be performed is received. When the creation of the workflow is completed, an indication of such is received and the workflow is saved. According to another aspect, a request to process data is received, the appropriate workflow identified, and the data processed by performing the operations in the sequence in an order identified by the sequence.
