TL;DR: In this article, a system has a domain expert component library stored on a computer readable storage device, the component library containing connectable components that create a mobile workflow based application; an intermediate representation of a workflow application based on the workflow sequence, and a software programming language environment to perform data manipulation changes to the intermediate representation.
Abstract: A system has a domain expert component library stored on a computer readable storage device, the component library containing connectable components that create a mobile workflow based application; a domain expert user interface coupled to the domain expert component library to facilitate assembly of components in a workflow sequence; and a developer user interface coupled to: receive an intermediate representation of a workflow application based on the workflow sequence, and provide a software programming language environment to perform data manipulation changes to the intermediate representation to create the mobile workflow based application.

TL;DR: In this paper, a system and method for supporting a virtual appliance is described, which includes an update server that can manage a workflow to update an appliance in response to detecting upstream updates to one or more software components that have been installed for the appliance.
Abstract: A system and method for supporting a virtual appliance is provided. In particular, a support engine may include an update server that can manage a workflow to update an appliance in response to detecting upstream updates to one or more software components that have been installed for the appliance. For example, the workflow may generally include managing a rebuild the appliance to install the upstream updates and further managing an integration test to verify that the rebuilt appliance behaves correctly with the upstream updates installed. In addition, the support engine may further include a support analysis manager that can analyze the software components that have been installed for the appliance in view of various heuristic rules to generate a support statement indicating whether support is available for the appliance.

TL;DR: In this article, a system architecture and method for creating, storing, managing, accessing, communicating and displaying command, control and management information, to include text documents, tables, static map data and geographically reference dynamic data for the management of incidents or events by distributed, ad-hoc groups are described.
Abstract: A system(11) architecture, and method for creating, storing, managing, accessing, communicating and displaying command, control and management information, to include text documents, tables, static map data and geographically reference dynamic data for the management of incidents or events by distributed, ad-hoc groups are described herein. The static map data may include, for example, cartographic data in digital format such as terrain data or street data. The dynamic data may include text, documents, tables, icons, and other symbology that graphically represent current status information (e.g., the current location of an incident, a resource, or the status of a facility). The system (11) includes one or more client subsystems (16, 17, 18, 19) running purpose-built and/or conventional software applications that communicate with a server subsystem (11) and can independently request, receive, store, and subsequently display the static map data and/or the dynamic data in document, tabular or graphical form. The display might include representing the dynamic data in graphical form either separately as tables and reports, or as an overlay on the static map data.

TL;DR: The modeling approaches for the inter-organizational workflows is emphasized and introduced in detail in this paper and some interesting research issues in the area are discussed in both technical and managerial perspectives.
Abstract: Emerging e-business, e-commerce, and virtual enterprises are leading to the trend of managing workflows across organizational boundaries. A cross-organizational workflow is generally comprised of intra-organizational workflows and inter-organization workflows. The modeling techniques for the intra-organizational workflows are relatively matured. In this paper, they are briefly reviewed and contrasted to show their strong points and weaknesses. The modeling approaches for the inter-organizational workflows is emphasized and introduced in detail in this paper. The inter-organizational workflow emphasizes more on combining the workflows of different partners together and reconciling the relationships between them. Thus, the modeling approaches are described in two directions by their functions: routing languages introduced to combine individual workflows and interaction patterns proposed for collaborative partners to interact with each other. In this paper, some techniques are summarized, and some interesting research issues in the area are discussed in both technical and managerial perspectives. Copyright © 2009 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
